Not to pour salt in the wounds of these high-profile election losers, but there’s a reason to look forward to this match-up: It’s the biggest Republican-on-Republican action in the tourney.
Like most people not from Minnesota, U.S. Senator Norm Coleman just couldn’t believe that Al Franken might pull out a win against him in the contested Minnesota Senate race last November. So he suggested the Distinguished Gentleman From Saturday Night Live concede before all the votes were in. But pride goeth before the fall, and Coleman wasn’t laughing when it suddenly started to look like there would be a Sen. Stuart Smalley after all. So he did what all gracious losers do: He sued.
And what can be said about Sarah Palin that hasn’t been said already by Tina Fey? Well, for starters, there’s the issue of first grader Piper Palin parading around with an $800 Louis Vuitton bag (or is it?) while her politico mom worked the election circuit with grand speeches about hard family-finance decisions. Or the one about wasteful earmarks after not being so against government spending when she needed the money for pet projects in Wasilla. See what I mean? Oh, yeah, you betcha.
This poll — and today’s seven other Round 1 matchups — will be open for 24 hours. Updated Brackets will be posted tomorrow.
Deceiver Madness '09 Round 1 (Politicos bracket): Pick the bigger hypocrite

Sarah Palin got the vote here. She’s still in Office and a danger to be a runner-up in the next Republican congress of 2012.
Sarah Palin scares me. End of story.
Sarah Palin and her daughter, Bristol, the poster child for abstinence only education, got my vote.
Norm Coleman is beginning to look like a colossal whiner. That’s why he got my vote.
Norm got my vote. I like lipstick on pitbulls!
Close but Sarah Palin because she has more power right now than Coleman. Plus, Franken will probably hang himself on some scandal before the end of his term.
Just like the posts on Sarah Palin herself, the reasons to put her up here seem pretty weak, so I vote for the other guy. And I guarantee that most of the votes for her won’t be due to hypocritical behavior but due to just plain old good fashioned hatred. But that’s okay, you know? I’m voting against the people I hate, too. So go for it!
This was a tough call. Coleman.
Are you putting 2 Republicans up on your site?! WTF! When did this blog join the left wing commie conspiracy?!!?
Sarah, because nothing sounded more staged than her “folksiness”.
D—-: This counts as our daily dose of grievance-nuggets, so we right-wing morons can remain permanently enraged. Because Rush was busy.
Sarah, you betch ya!
Norm – Minnesota politics are funny! I have only three words for Norm that should have echoed in his head the entire election: Governor Jesse Ventura.
Oh-fer-geeze, it’s dat big smilin Norman fer me, doncha-no?
I had to go with Sarah, mostly because she is so pretty. Norm, not so much.
Coleman. Anything involving lawyers immediately makes you a loser. F the lawyers. Real individuals solve problems themselves…like Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr did.
We hates Palin! We hates it forever!
Coleman – all the way
Coleman’s a RINO, though he’s still preferable to Frakenstein, while Palin is not. Though I’m sure the lefties here will appreciate the opportunity to slam a real conservative.
Coleman. Since the 2000 election nonsense, he could have taken a stand and gracefully conceded.
ugh – Palin That woman BLATANTLY talked out of both side of her mouth the whole election
Aaargh. You guys are making this very difficult, but I figure Coleman was doing what any self-respecting republican does–try to steal the election if you can’t win legitimately, whereas Palin puts my gastric juices in overdrive.
Going with Coleman.
Wow the seeding is super messed up in politicos.
Palin. VP debates. ’nuff said.
everyone sues in america… it’s just a big lawsuit after the other…
sarah on the other hand… her charisma got to me… and deceived me so her….
I realize it’s futile, but Sarah Palin is not abstinence-only:

My goodness, the ignorance in the comments in this thread… republicans sue to win elections they “can’t”?! It pained me to vote for Coleman just now, because Franken *cheated* his fat ass into that seat so he should be sued (unlike when Democrats sue). However, Coleman is a RINO and I like Palin. StrawberryGirl hit a ton of nails on the head.
Sorry neither in this bracket.
My vote goes toward Palin.
Oh wait…this poll isn’t on whose hotter?
I’ll go with Coleman then because I disdain the number of lawsuits amongst politicians.
Also, he probably looks better in a one piece…
I still laugh over the Onion headline: “Autopsy of Local Man Reveals 100 More Franken Votes”.
I love the Cuda, so Coleman gets the vote.
Oh, and “Coleman was doing what any self-respecting republican does–try to steal the election if you can’t win legitimately”. REAAAAALLLLY? Are you just too young to remember 2000 so you repeat BS Democrat talking points? Bush was declared the winner from the start, Gore sued to challenge the results, which at NO TIME changed the outcome. The only thing Bush’s people ’sued’ to do was stop the 15th or 16th recount.
Republicans don’t sue to win elections, Democrats just keep counting votes until they can magically create enough for their guy to win.
I voted for the other guy to piss off the Palin Haters.
Hey, they’ve found the Lost City of Atlantis, off the coast of Florida. It was built largely of lost Gore and Franken votes. I KNEW it.
Hard choice. I don’t care for either of them but I had to go with Palin on this one.
Sarah-cuda!
Palin. For all the excellent reasons mentioned above.
I was not aware of Palin’s not being abstinence only, Simon. Wow. Makes Bristol’s announcement that she thought it unrealistic less of a big deal than Fox or wherever I read made it out to be.
I wouldn’t want to change my vote though, even if I could. Sarah Palin annoys the mess out of me and that’s the least of my issues with her.
I guess being down would be losing to Al Franken….being kicked is because you are still dragging the whole thing out longer by suing…
Oh….had to go with Palin. She needs to take care of her kids.
after reading the first 3 comments on here, i have nothing else to say. palin!
Anyone who loses to Mr. Franken gets my pity vote.
I voted for Sarah. I’d sue too if practically all the found votes were for my opponent.
Sarah Palin FTW! Because her mess-ups were often more entertaining.
“It’s the biggest Republican-on-Republican action in the tourney.” Bad image. Eww. Well, anyway, I went with Palin, because of overexposure. It seemed like the people who really liked her were obsessed with her and the people who really didn’t like her were obsessed with her, too. And it created too much Palin talk.
I gave it to Coleman….never show fear. The Palins just showed stupidity.
Palin. Duh.
Coleman
Both of those are weak, and are obviously just quota entries.
They both pale in comparison to the others.
