DECEIVER MADNESS Round 1: The Cheerleader vs. The Search Engine

activists-headerd5-panettiere-google

Hayden Panettiere vs. Google. Good thing it’s not a spelling bee! (I don’t know what that means either.)

deceivermadnesslogo091

Lil’ Hayden is so cute. She got an award for failing to save those dolphins, and celebrated her boycott of all things Japanese with some sushi. She also never smokes — except when she does — and of course all the money she earns by selling leather purses and shoes gives her more free time to save the whales.

And then there’s Google: Larry Page & Sergey Brin are the Lennon & McCartney of hypocrisy. If you’ve ever wanted to blast those guys into space, they’re way ahead of you! They’re all about saving the Earth, as long as it doesn’t mean giving up their toys. Two pocket-protectors up!

This poll — and today’s seven other Round 1 matchups — will be open for 24 hours. Updated Brackets will be posted tomorrow.

Deceiver Madness '09 Round 1 (Activists bracket): Pick the bigger hypocrite

  • Hayden Panettiere (6) (54%)
  • Google (11) (46%)

  1. 1 Toubrouk Mar 12th, 2009 at 9:29 am

I go for Google. They are ready to drop their pants at the single demand of the Chinese government.

  2. 2 Carlo Mar 12th, 2009 at 9:34 am

I went with the annoying pixie. Her hypocrisy is funnier for its idiocy.

  3. 3 Chronic Malanga Mar 12th, 2009 at 9:37 am

Toubrouk said it all. At least Hayden isn’t dropping them for China. And as you all know, I hate Commies more than hypocrites.

  4. 4 angry army wife Mar 12th, 2009 at 9:49 am

Hayden just cause she is doing what all celebrities do and “do as I say, not as I do.” Another young mind lost because she is following what everyone else does.

  5. 5 bigmama Mar 12th, 2009 at 9:51 am

The little gnome because I want to stick her in my garden as a decoration.

  6. 6 Beige Mar 12th, 2009 at 10:20 am

Google, because I hate them like I hate spider ventriloquists.

  7. 7 D---- Mar 12th, 2009 at 10:23 am

Going with the almighty Google God

  8. 8 Saro Mar 12th, 2009 at 10:29 am

I love Google, but I voted for them because someone needs to take them down a peg.

  9. 9 Habanada Mar 12th, 2009 at 10:29 am

Google–because it is more evil than the last ten horror villains, because their motto is “do no evil,” and because they have infiltrated this society more effectively than a Canadian without an accent. DOWN WITH G——!!

  10. 10 Swede0319 Mar 12th, 2009 at 10:51 am

    The blond gnome.

  11. 11 MrsCman Mar 12th, 2009 at 11:16 am

The cheerleader. Although I do love the way the mock her on The Soup!

  12. 12 Queen Bee Mar 12th, 2009 at 11:52 am

Hayden gets my vote. She is only 19 but, man, she acts like quite the princess. Now that she’s broken up with Milo, she’s trying to get him fired from Heroes? Really, the cheerleader should be the one to die.

  13. 13 Nivek Mar 12th, 2009 at 11:59 am

    HaHa! The gnome.

  14. 14 Anna Mar 12th, 2009 at 11:59 am

Google – they give terrorists the locations for sensitive nation security instillations.

  15. 15 Runolfr Mar 12th, 2009 at 12:13 pm

Does this mean that Hayden is turning into the “bad Claire” from the future?

  16. 16 jenn Mar 12th, 2009 at 12:50 pm

She’s just dumb, google is sinister

  17. 17 heather Mar 12th, 2009 at 1:12 pm

I used to like Hayden… Now she just bugs me. And I use google on a daily basis, so I had to go with little miss save the whales.

  18. 18 Minnow Mar 12th, 2009 at 1:28 pm

Googlies for me. Wouldn’t you just love to watch them choke on a birkenstock?

  19. 19 Toubrouk Mar 12th, 2009 at 1:36 pm

    Chronic,

By themselves, Communists are the greatest hypocrites that the blue earth never seen. Look at the lifestyle of those who run the “Goulag” compared to those who “Live” in it. Stalin, Mao and Castro had it very good. If communists had a spot in the Derby, whey would win hands down.

  20. 20 Jannah Mar 12th, 2009 at 1:41 pm

Google, fer shurr!! And everyone should use Altavista.com for searching, they haven’t done anything creepy yet so far as I know.

  21. 21 StrawberryGirl Mar 12th, 2009 at 1:55 pm

This was a toughie because they both so deserve to be in this tournament.

  22. 22 LabRat Mar 12th, 2009 at 1:55 pm

Hayden. Someone nailed it with “Do as i say, not as I do.”

  23. 23 California Dave Mar 12th, 2009 at 2:02 pm

Hayden. Don’t forget – her dad beats her mom, but it’s “no big deal”.

  24. 24 Chronic Malanga Mar 12th, 2009 at 2:17 pm

    Amen, Toubrouk! Amen to that!

  25. 25 luscious_t Mar 12th, 2009 at 2:20 pm

Went with the garden gnome on this one.

  26. 26 kbug61 Mar 12th, 2009 at 2:24 pm

Going Google on this simply because I am opposed to all things that smell of world domination.

  27. 27 X Mar 12th, 2009 at 2:40 pm

I condemn deceiver for speaking out against our google over-lords… besides, hayden is homunculus.

  28. 28 Crow Jane Mar 12th, 2009 at 2:50 pm

Google, because I fear them more than I fear the cheerleader.

  29. 29 Chris Mar 12th, 2009 at 3:26 pm

Hayden, because she thinks that because she has nice boobs and so people should listen to her. Ugh.

  30. 30 Kristine Mar 12th, 2009 at 3:59 pm

Google, because as has been excellently state, they’re evil… which inherently means there isn’t a non-hypocrtical bone in their body. Besides, I just got into saving the cheerleader last weekend ;-)

  31. 31 The Irish Mar 12th, 2009 at 4:13 pm

Save the cheerleader, screw the world.

  32. 32 Pastafarian Mar 12th, 2009 at 4:59 pm

Google because they are doing exactly the opposite of what they said they would. Remember “Don’t Be Evil”?

  33. 33 Scott F. Mar 12th, 2009 at 5:05 pm

Google. When I was serving in Iraq, there were quite a few times we learned that targets were picked using Google Earth. It may sound ridiculous in this day in age, but I do believe that the least a corporation can do is make sure it’s products aren’t a national security issue.

  34. 34 Beige Mar 12th, 2009 at 5:26 pm

Hey, but when more of our guys buy the farm because of Google, Google News gets to feature the stories. People’s right to know, and all that. I have been convinced for some time now that the vast majority of the American media loves nothing in the world as much as American deaths.

  35. 35 Nick Mar 12th, 2009 at 6:24 pm

Damn. I voted Hayden but after reading Scott F’s post I wish I could change that to Google.

  36. 36 Habanada Mar 12th, 2009 at 7:04 pm

Come on, you guys. Hayden Pantyass is just yet another ho-hum-hypocrite who saves dolphin and carries a leather purse. Google is true evil in its most insidious form.

  37. 37 Christine Mar 12th, 2009 at 7:39 pm

    Google.

  38. 38 californiaflame Mar 12th, 2009 at 8:02 pm

Damn. Voted Hayden cuz I hate that beyatch but ditto Nick’s comment.

  39. 39 Matt Mar 12th, 2009 at 8:02 pm

    What Jenn said!

  40. 40 Marc Mar 12th, 2009 at 8:37 pm

When in doudt, vote for someone who is involved with PETA…Hayden by a nose..

  41. 41 k Mar 12th, 2009 at 8:55 pm

Hayden Pantyairs, mainly because I use Google every day while I can see Hayden serving no useful purpose whatsoever.

  42. 42 katie Mar 12th, 2009 at 9:53 pm

    “lil hayden!” lol!

  43. 43 Hjay Mar 12th, 2009 at 10:14 pm

I would have liked to vote for both of them, but in the end I had to go with Google.

  44. 44 Ale Mar 12th, 2009 at 10:22 pm

Hayden because she’s a terrible actress and just sucks at life.

  45. 45 Rocko Mar 12th, 2009 at 10:45 pm

Google. Their corporate guideline is “don’t be evil”, except when they are.

  46. 46 randomstalker Mar 12th, 2009 at 11:21 pm

I vote for Hayden. Because I can’t live without Google and I’m afraid they might not let me use their search engine or gmail anymore if I dared call them hypocrites.

  47. 47 Les Paul Mar 12th, 2009 at 11:27 pm

Again, girls should just know better.

  48. 48 Matt Mar 12th, 2009 at 11:51 pm

I’ll go with Google, using the now-cliched “Their hypocrisy is more far-reaching than the moron starlet’s” argument.

  49. 49 Koka Mar 13th, 2009 at 12:31 am

Ugh, one more thing we are giving away to China. Hey wait, why don’t we just give Google to them, and cut them off here???

  50. 50 Nati Mar 13th, 2009 at 1:12 am

Google. It’s just plain worthless…at least, as a search engine and at least, to me. I mostly use msn for my searches.

  51. 51 Jill Mar 13th, 2009 at 9:25 am

Cheerleader. I’d hate to be a hypocrite myself by putting Google when I use it every day.
