DECEIVER MADNESS Round 2: Activists

activists-header

As God is my witness, I did not see this coming.

Five of the eight Round 1 survivors in the “Activists” bracket are involved with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). And two more (Hopalong Mills and Li’l Hayden) are also animal right activists. But remember that there are a few environmental activists (Al Gore, for instance) who landed in other brackets.

Let’s face it: PETA is not going to come out looking good here. But you’re voting for the biggest hypocrite — not the biggest jackass — so anything could happen.

It’s your turn to tell holier-than-thou do-gooders that you’re not buying what they’re selling. Go ahead — it’s fun! To review the contenders’ tournament résumés from Round 1 and reminisce about who they beat in the “primaries,” click on these pictures:

I have a confession to make: The first time I saw Sophie Monk’s naked PETA poster, I thought it was Olivia d’Abo. You know: She’s that chick who played the recurring character of con-artist-serial-killer “Nicole Wallace” on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Besides, who the hell had ever heard of Sophie Monk?

Now I’m not saying that Sophie Monk is a serial killer, or that she plays one on TV. But she does look a lot like Olivia d’Abo, expecially with her clothes off. Oh — and that afternoon jaunt to KFC showed her con-artist side.

What we really need is an episode of Criminal Intent where Vincent D’onofrio interrogates all the PETA celebrities and gets them to admit that they have secret meatlockers full of Polish sausage.

After all that, I have a feeling that Pam Anderson will still crush her. But it’s not my call, now, is it?

REMINDER: We’re giving away more prizes this week. Leave a comment below (with a valid e-mail address) telling everyone how you voted and why, and you could win some cool stuff. And you can always click here for the most up-to-date brackets.

These polls will be open for 24 hours, and updated brackets will be posted Wednesday. And tomorrow morning, get ready to sharpen your claws for an “Activists” bracket that’s chock full of PETArds. Just like God intended it.

    3 Ps & a peg leg

    PETA
    Pam
    Pannettiere (& of course)
    Ms. Mills

I don’t think any require explanation today.

  2. 2 jenn Mar 18th, 2009 at 9:13 am

PETA – they are responsible for all of the competitors in this bracket
Pam – I don’t know who Sophie Monk is other than from what I have read on this site
Unilever/Dove – bad in so many ways – hypocrites on beauty, aging and animals
    Heather – she is evil!

  3. 3 Chronic Malanga Mar 18th, 2009 at 9:23 am

PETA: They are the Grand Monarchs of Hypocrisy and anyone would have to work hard to outdo these people hating, protein deprived, terrorists.

Pam: As a PETA spokeswhore, she has embraced PETA hypocrisy more so than any of the other naked, closet meat eaters out there. Sophie just went to KFC.

Unilever/Dove: The hypocrisy is inherent here. Hayden is a hypocrite, but she is a minor offender in comparison as far as I am concerned. The Dove campaign just takes it to a level of near PETA proportions.

Jenna: I really hate Heather Mills, but as hypocritical as she is, and as many rats as she’d like to milk, Jenna beats her, and I forsee her losing this round simply because she is more likeable than Heather.

  4. 4 D---- Mar 18th, 2009 at 9:38 am

PeTA – they are going all the way here

Pam – for taking PeTA’s money while wearing leather jeans

Dove – their attempt at supporting regular women is a joke

Heather – for milking all that cash and now being broke

  5. 5 Toubrouk Mar 18th, 2009 at 9:40 am

I have made my choice regarding the Activists by the number of people they can reach with their antics. It mostly goes like this:

PeTA. They are bloody everywhere. They have a war-chest and they are ready to use any platform they can find. As far as I am concerned, they are a threat.

Pamela. She’s the ultimate PeTA drone.

Unilever/Dove. Their sleaze-marketing says it all.

Heather Mills. Unlike Jenna, she can’t be simply discredited as a porn star.

  6. 6 Runolfr Mar 18th, 2009 at 10:00 am

With PETA itself in the running, what chance do its assorted bimbos really have? All I could do was vote for the ones whose pictures I wouldn’t mind seeing a couple more times as the voting progesses.

  7. 7 k80 Mar 18th, 2009 at 10:01 am

PETA, Pamela, Unilever, and Heather. Peta is such a hideous group, and Pamela is one of their pet celebrities, so they got my vote for the same reasons. Unilever because selling natural beauty with photo shop and skin lightener products for middle easterners is awful, but not nearly as awful as promising to buy prosthetic legs for someone and then flaking out. I’m looking at you, Heather Mills!

  8. 8 MrsCman Mar 18th, 2009 at 10:04 am

Wow – kinda surprised by all the people voting for Unilever/Dove. I must be immune to corporate deceiving! I just voted for the usual PETA suspects.

  9. 9 Beige Mar 18th, 2009 at 10:16 am

Mills, Unilever, Anderson and PETA. Natch.

  10. 10 k Mar 18th, 2009 at 10:26 am

PeTA: Because the whole kittens in the freezer thing just pushed it right over the edge. And me too.

Pammie: Because she can’t seem to make up her mind if she wants to be popular with PeTA or the general public; you can’t have both. Oh, and that whole fake miscarriage thing she pulled on Bob Bob The Rockin’ Rock was low, too.

Dove: Because they are supposedly being all nice to the poor fat girls, affecting way more people than Hayden will affect dolphins.

Heather: Because she’s Heather Mills. And?

  11. 11 adagioforstrings Mar 18th, 2009 at 10:37 am

    PETA, Pam, Unilever, Heather.

I chose the corporation/group over the individual since a collective can do more harm than a single individual.

I chose Pam since she became a US citizen presumably to vote for lefty politicians & ruin our government. I preemptively voted against Heather in case she’s thinking of doing the same thing. Socialists are fine, as long as they aren’t ruining my country.

  12. 12 Carlo Mar 18th, 2009 at 10:46 am

I don’t know who “Pamenal” Anderson is, but I voted for her anyway.

  13. 13 Swede0319 Mar 18th, 2009 at 10:49 am

    Peta-no brainer
    Sophie-just because
H/P-she’s a stupid little twatwaffle (I like that word)
    Mills = loser

  14. 14 angry army wife Mar 18th, 2009 at 11:26 am

PETA – just cause they are everywhere and annoying me to death.

Pam -she is an old has been who just needs to go away. Oh, and she can take her leather seated cars with her.

Hayden – she is a young annoying girl who thinks she is doing the world a favor. Go eat some sushi and sleep with your 30 year old boyfriend.

Mills – is she still around? Blech.

  15. 15 PJ Mar 18th, 2009 at 11:28 am

Mills by a leg and a half!

  16. 16 heather Mar 18th, 2009 at 11:40 am

Peta, Pam, Unilever & Pegleg McGolddigger

Peta for so many reasons, mostly that the vice president is an insulin dependent diabetic who decries the use of animal products…except of course for her insulin. She doesn’t want *you* to use them, but she has to to survive, you see. Either all of it’s bad, or none of it is, MaryBeth.

Pam for being a haggard ol’ two-face. Dear Pam, put some damn pants on. Love, the world.

Unilever can suck it. You’re all beautiful, and we’re going to photoshop the hell out of you to make sure of it.

and Peggy? Well she sucks and doesn’t even deserve her P.T. Cwuiser.

  17. 17 Marc Mar 18th, 2009 at 11:48 am

Peta is the front runner for the whole enchilada…which has meat in it, BTW…

    Pam is,…well, Pam….

Dove beat out a good contender, and deserves to hang around a bit longer….

Mills solidified her standing the other day by buying a restaurant, paying less than she told the owner she would originally, then ditching all of the actual food (you know, the meat and fish) to turn it vegan. Man, she sucks big…and she only has 1 real knee to get down on to do so…KUDOS!

  18. 18 Habanada Mar 18th, 2009 at 11:49 am

Honestly, the whole activist thing leaves me cold, so I don’t have huge opinions on it all. However, I did have a good time shocking some people yesterday with, “You know, PeTA kills animals.” That’s a great icebreaker.

Anyway, my votes were PeTA, Pam Ann, Dove, and Mills.

  19. 19 Underestimated Mar 18th, 2009 at 11:58 am

PETA – they’re in it to win it
    Pam – see above
Unilever – because they really made me think they thought being overweight and underattractive was OK by them.
Mills – after all the kicking and screaming and foot stomping, she ended up broke anyway.

  20. 20 Kristine Mar 18th, 2009 at 12:07 pm

PeTA, Pam, Dove and Heather… and I don’t have time for my reasoning, though I think it’s pretty obvious at this point.

  21. 21 LN Mar 18th, 2009 at 12:38 pm

    PeTA…that is enough said.

Pam …because no wears that much makeup and has that much plastic surgery where animals aren’t affected.

Hayden…well because as much as I don’t like the Dove dishonesty, I like the soap.

    Mills..well she married for “love”.

  22. 22 Elle Mar 18th, 2009 at 12:44 pm

PeTA: This org is the raging definition of hypocrite. Too many instances to list but lets top it off with dumping dog corpses behind the Piggly Wiggly.

Pam (and I think a typo snuck into your vote survey there): putting the “un” into “ethical treatment of animals”

Dove: I know that even drop dead sexy women who are stick thin are airbrushed, stretched, and photoshopped within an inch of their lives in those advertisements, so why is it a surprise that the “real” women were too. Still when your whole campaign is based around real women, real curves, etc then it seems incredibly hypocritical. (Don’t get me started on fitness magazines that show covergirls that have been ’shopped)

Heather: Again, too many reasons to delve in depth.

  23. 23 The Oversneer Mar 18th, 2009 at 12:47 pm

    – Fixed the typo of Pammy’s name in the poll. Sorry about that.

  24. 24 Queen Bee Mar 18th, 2009 at 12:54 pm

PETA: They just can’t get their story straight. Bad to eat animals or wear them? Totally ok to throw them in the dumpster.
Sophie: Because she is trying to kill the homeless with greasy chicken
Unilever: Their ads are so earnest, “Love yourself,” (only if you are whiter)
Heather: I think she is a contender to take it all. She really is one of the most henious people in the public eye.

  25. 25 Eve Mar 18th, 2009 at 1:05 pm

PETA, Pam, Unilever and Heather. Ick.

  26. 26 Justin Mar 18th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
  27. 27 Minnow Mar 18th, 2009 at 1:22 pm

Damn it, damn it, DAMN IT!!!!

I vowed I wasn’t going to vote for HoETA in this thing and darnitall I just had to do it!

My only consolation is that Syphila Anderson has the broad based spectrum of hypocrisy necessary to take’em down in the next round.

  28. 28 StrawberryGirl Mar 18th, 2009 at 1:45 pm

It was really hard to choose between Jenna “Mother of Twins” (God help us and them) Jameson and Heather Mills, but at least Jenna’s honest about what she does for a living if nothing else.

  29. 29 California Dave Mar 18th, 2009 at 1:46 pm

    PeTA, Monk, Dove, Mills.

    Only the Monk/Anderson pairing was a toss-up.

  30. 30 Crow Jane Mar 18th, 2009 at 1:51 pm

    PETA – Because it’s, PETA.
Pamela – For being the worn out self-righteous, attention whore that she is.
Hayden – For only caring about the cute animals.
Jenna – I know that Heather Mills is a big See You Next Tuesday, but I think Jenna has shown more hypocrisy lately.

  31. 31 Pastafarian Mar 18th, 2009 at 2:08 pm

    Kate Beckinsale

    Silvia Saint

    Rosie O’Donn-

    Whoops! Wrong poll…

    I meant

    peta
    Pam
    Hayden
    Heather

  32. 32 Les Paul Mar 18th, 2009 at 2:17 pm

PeTA – Pam – Dove – Mills (Deceiver managers: in case you tried my e-mail before, I’m now allowing you)

  33. 33 Lynn Mar 18th, 2009 at 3:03 pm

I voted for all the winners apparently. Peta, Pam, Hayden, and Heather. Good times!

  34. 34 Hjay Mar 18th, 2009 at 3:16 pm

PETA, Ms. Panettiere, and Ms. Jameson got my votes. I was not sure about Ms. Anderson or Ms. Monk.

  35. 35 Nati Mar 18th, 2009 at 4:25 pm

I voted for PeTA (duh), Pamela Anderson (she’s been a pseudo-vegetarian petard far longer than Sophie Monk. And I still don’t know who Sopihie Monk is), Dove (I’m still not okay with that “love your fat” message they insist on sending which is far worse than anything Hayden is doing…whatever it is she’s doing), and Heather Mills (at least Jameson was *ahem* productive once. And also, I’m a big fan of her work).

  36. 36 Scott F. Mar 18th, 2009 at 4:33 pm

    Peta, Pammy, Hayden, and Heather.

Pretty easy, seeing as I hate them all for exactly the same reason – they just won’t shut up and go away.

  37. 37 kbug61 Mar 18th, 2009 at 4:49 pm

Peta, Pam, Unilever & Mills. Ditto what Nati said.

  38. 38 Ani Mar 18th, 2009 at 5:16 pm

    PeTA: Enough said.

Pam Anderson: she’s tried a lot of looks. She ought to try dignity, I hear it looks great.

Unilever: that commericial depicting the skin lightening product as being life-changing for an Indian woman made me ill.

Heather Mills: fake unprintable ruptured deleted. Married for “love” and took the guy to the cleaners, and claims she can’t afford to fly her daughter first class. Golddigging Hagatha.

  39. 39 muppet2171 Mar 18th, 2009 at 5:21 pm

    Peta
    sophie
    dove
    pegleg

  40. 40 Koka Mar 18th, 2009 at 5:29 pm

OMG…what are we gonna do when it gets down to PETA vs. Pam???????? ‘Cause it looks like those are the 2 that will be the final ones standing.

OTOH I also pick Dove and Jenna. Both need to reconsider their “packaging”.

  41. 41 ganzagwenie Mar 18th, 2009 at 6:27 pm

PETA– I’m sorry but having a house cat as a pet isn’t animal cruelty. Additionally, I look good in fur.
ANDERSON– Monk could have been buying biscuits…
DOVE– Love yourself, but please, buy our crappy products so you can attempt to change everything about yourself
MILLS– she’s just the lowest of the low, and also, my money’s on her to take all.

  42. 42 Saro Mar 18th, 2009 at 6:51 pm

Hmm…went all high seeds this time. Hard not to, but in spite of the fact I wish they would be smote in some ironic manner, I actually hope somebody manages to beat PeTA in this tournament.

  43. 43 Arnee Mar 18th, 2009 at 7:20 pm

    I voted for:

1)PETA – the dictionary definition of hypocrite surely has to be rewritten to include this organisation? Don’t eat animals, toss them in the bin instead!
2)Pammy Schanderson – offends my face.
    3)Hayden P – can’t stand all these faux do-gooders.
4)JJ – urgh. That is all.

You’re up next Mario aka Perez!!

  44. 44 Nick Mar 18th, 2009 at 7:31 pm

PETA, Pam, Panettiere , and Mills. PETA is going to go far in this competition.

  45. 45 Rocko Mar 18th, 2009 at 7:53 pm

I notice you Deceiver guys misspelled PeTA in the poll but I saw past that and voted for them anyway. Let’s see them and Pam face off.

I just went with all the higher seeds today, they’re higher for a reason. Next round should be more interesting in this bracket.

  46. 46 Katya Mar 18th, 2009 at 8:44 pm

Dove is the only contender on this list who really seemed to be doing something inherently positive and decent that seemed above all possible reproach. And they were filthy stinking liars! Not only is that absurd for a soap company, but I want to see them burn!! All my fiery hatred to you, Unilever!

  47. 47 That person Mar 18th, 2009 at 9:20 pm

Darnit! Lucious t beat me to it! Stupid being in another country, and never being able to comment fast enough!

Quick questions–KFC fried the veggieburgers in chicken fat, and Sophie Monk ate there. Do the two cancel each other out? I mean, is it a mathematical system? -X-= + sort of thing? The mind. It boggles.

  48. 48 Chuwah Mar 18th, 2009 at 9:34 pm

PeTA- They fail at everything ever. I have high hopes for them in this competition.

Pam- Sometimes I wonder if she’s even smart enough to realize all her inconsistencies.

Unilever- On one hand, the advertisers are just doing their job and playing to their intended audience for a particular product, but it’s still lame as hell.

    Jenna- See Pam.

  49. 49 Meg B. Mar 18th, 2009 at 10:37 pm

PETA is sooo going to win this whole thing

  50. 50 randomstalker Mar 19th, 2009 at 12:28 am

    I voted for:

PETA – Because hey, come on. It’s PETA. Everyone hates PETA, and PETA hates everyone (unless you’re not human… then they just kill you).

Pamela Anderson – Because I’ve heard more about her than the other one, so I dislike her more.

DOVE – Because they’re toying with the self-esteem of women everywhere and just doesn’t seem to care as long as they have the cash they need to say that they do care.

Heather Mills – Lying about charity? Being horrible to amputees? Sounds like the devil to me. And what’s more hypocritical than a demon/activist??

  51. 51 The Irish Mar 19th, 2009 at 1:37 am

Just like in real life, PETA should be an unstoppable force of sheer annoyance that will take it straight to the top. Pamela, Hayden, and Heather all got my vote for this round as well, but I think the winner for this bracket is already pretty clear.

  52. 52 katie Mar 19th, 2009 at 1:56 am

PETA, sophie monk, jenna jameson, and hayden!

  53. 53 Embrodak Mar 19th, 2009 at 2:49 am

Peta, Pamela, Unilever and Mills. Cos they’re all the large scale hypocrites.

  54. 54 Rocco Lore Mar 19th, 2009 at 4:36 am

Let’s see: PETA for their total idiocy on Amanda Beard, Pamela Anderson for repeated offenses, Unilever for that skin-lightening cream, and Heather Mills just because.

  55. 55 Matt Mar 19th, 2009 at 6:09 am

I did it again – I evened out a vote to 50/50 on Unilever & Hayden!

    I voted for Hayden, BTW

  56. 56 Jill Mar 19th, 2009 at 8:48 am

Simply voted for the ones I’d heard of.
