Chronic, as a complete hypocrite, I see your point. Everyone is guilty of hypocrisy at some point. But…(you knew there was a but, right?) celebrities like Applegate have a much better chance of influencing more people than you or I do.

And honestly, isn’t calling out these hypocrisies the raison d’etre for Deceiver? Don’t tell me you’re questioning the whole Deceiver premise!

While I do see the hypocrisy in the point being made here. If you are going to take a high profile, cancer fighting stance, it probably isn’t helpful to smoke in public. But, in all fairness, that would make a lot of us hypocrites as well. Sure, I’m not famous even on my street, but just because I enjoy a few cigs a day, doesn’t mean that I am uninterested in cancer research/finding a cure. It’s cancer, and it’s a disease that has touched my life personally. It’s not as though there are actually pro cancer organizations out there. With all the things that do cause cancer out there aside from cigarettes, they’d have a hard time getting anyone that wasn’t in some way a hypocrite to schlub for cancer research.

I concur. You do not go on TV to help fight cancer, ALL cancer and then show up around town with a cigarrette. No matter who you are. Gee, sounds like those celebs who hate fur, but don’t mind wearing it, huh? That is why this site is here, to bring out the hyprocracy in people’s lives.

Um…ej? I don’t see you on that hill, either. I’m glad you got through the cancer and all, but check out Aleric’s post. It sort of explains why this site is here, I think, and what is meant by the Applegate post and others like it. If the whole principle bugs you, maybe some other site would welcome your insights. I mean, I don’t own Deceiver or anything, but come on.

Just by reading the comments in this thread I can pick out the smokers and the bleeding hearts without finishing the reply.

Note to people posting on the Deciever website, it’s about Hypocrisy, if you say one thing and do another then you are a hypocrite. If you are a celeb who does it and then thinks people are not going to see you in PUBLIC doing what you claim you are against then you are going to be judged.
