Jonathan Rhys Meyers Arrested for Another Drunken Fight

jonathan_rhys_meyers_drinkingChronically mean drunk Jonathan Rhys Meyers spent the night in a Parisian jail after assaulting an employee at Charles de Gaulle airport:

The bartender at the café area Le Quotidien in the departure area of the airport at terminal 2F, refused to serve Meyers anymore alcohol. Meyers and the bar manager then began shouting at each other. When a waiter tried to separate the fighting men, Meyers allegedly punched the waiter.

Meyers spent 3 hours in a drunk tank part of the jail to sober-up before being released.

The AFP reports that Rhys Meyers has been told to appear before the Correctional Tribunal in Bobigny in September to answer charges concerning, “voluntary violence, contempt, issuing death threats and assault.”

Sound familiar? It totally is. Boy must have a hobby of punching out airport employees. So much for:

“I would never drink again. It is hard to avoid. But listen, you do what you want to do. I don’t want to do that. I want my career, and you can’t really do that and be successful on the screen.”

Seems like you can if you have lots of people enabling you as the star of a hit cable television series.

    A. I love that photo. He looks as though drinking is his job, not just an addiction.
    B. “Voluntary violence” and “contempt”? Whoa. The jails in France must be PACKED, if those are actionable offenses over there.

Him, Christian Bale, Kiefer Sutherland and Perez Hilton in the same room. That’d be AWESOME.

In all fairness, the entire country of France (and I mean every cheese eating surrender monkey in the country) probably deserved this.

I would hate to be ethnocentric… or maybe I don’t… but Fortune_Son makes an excellent point!

Although the pansy French are being firmer on Iran/Muslims than we are at the moment. Scary day.

Although in all fairness, I think that picture was taken just hours after he found out his mom died. Can hardly blame him for that.

I feel like struggling against a substance abuse addiction isn’t quite that bad, in terms of some other deceivers. Hope he gets the help he needs.

I bet he won’t get much help w/that at airport bars, C.

Is there really such a thing as IN-voluntary violence? Actually, Your Honor, I was involuntarily violent. Didn’t mean to punch the guy. Riiiiiight…

AllyKat–you’ve never seen me dance, have you?

Doesn’t he have a handler, I mean asistant?

Jail sounds ever so much nicer when it’s described as Parisian.

I wonder if the berets are orange…

I went through Charles de Gaulle about a week ago. They made me wait two hours in their security line, and verbally accosted me to “hurry up” when I finally got through. If I had the judicial umbrella of celebrity like our boy here, they’d have needed UN peacekeepers. Seriously, folks, take a train from London if you want to see Paris.

Stonegrigio, I don’t think Perez would get away with a minor eye bruise in that scenario.

This Guy, sorry to hear about your experience at CDG. It didn’t used to be that way. If I want to be mistreated by airport security I’ll just drive down to Logan.

Meh. If that horrendous cable tv show he’s in didn’t change the fact that I <3333 him, neither will this minor incident. And lol@the hate of “zeh French”. The only thing French that I truly hate is their football team…especially, that Zidane. And I don’t care that he’s been retired for ages – I’ve always hated Zidane. Always have and always will. Forza Azzurri!
