Nudity-Phobic Mary Louise Parker Goes Topless in Esquire

marylouiseparker_toplessA good rule of thumb on Deceiver is that naked chicks mean lots of clicks (are you listening, Carrie Prejean?). I’m thinking that will hold true for Mary Louise Parker, who plays pot-dealing MILF Nancy Botwin on Showtime’s Weeds.

Mary Louise Parker bared her breasts as Nancy in two episodes last season, most notably in the season finale during a revealing conversation with her brother-in-law Andy (played awesomely by Justin Kirk).

But in last month’s issue of More magazine, MLP claimed she was “goaded” into the unnecessary nudity:

She’d been fine with the series’ wildly erotic sex scenes, she says, but the shot in the bathtub in which the camera lingered on her breasts seemed intended to titillate. “I didn’t think I needed to be naked, and I fought with the director about it, and now I’m bitter,” she says. “I knew it was going to be on the Internet: ‘Mary Louise shows off her big nipples.’ I wish I hadn’t done that. I was goaded into it.”

What a difference a month makes.

Go ahead and click here for NSFW photos of her baking a pie in the August issue of Esquire. (This isn’t her first strip down the block either.) In my inexpert opinion, she doesn’t look like she had to be asked twice.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t notice her big nipples, I noticed her huge mouth. Looks like she could eat a man whole.

  2. 2 Beige Jul 10th, 2009 at 4:24 pm

If you’re tough and edgy and cool and feminist enough to show your goods at all, can’t you be tough and edgy and cool and feminist enough NOT to pull that old “They MADE me do it, bew hew” nonsense? Especially when you’ve done it before? You can haul out the golden globes, OR you can waah about how you don’t WANT to haul them out, but NOT BOTH.

  3. 3 This Guy Jul 10th, 2009 at 5:15 pm

We disagree on the size of a nipple describable as “big”. I classify that one as “I’ll be in my room…don’t knock”.

  4. 4 LN Jul 10th, 2009 at 5:26 pm

She gets paid a lot of money for her work. In the end it is her choice and no one elses. Stop blaming someone else for your own choices.

  5. 5 Koka Jul 10th, 2009 at 6:00 pm

ROFL……….how can anybody “goad” a woman to flash on camera????????? Do they hold a contract to her head and say “show the boobs or you’re fired”???

  6. 6 Jess Jul 10th, 2009 at 6:52 pm

    possibly.

  7. 7 California Dave Jul 10th, 2009 at 7:08 pm

Koka – possibly so. If there is a nudity clause Parker may very well HAVE to do it. If there isn’t, they could say “well, we won’t renew your contract when it’s up” or the classic “we’ll make sure you have a reputation for being difficult” or somesuch.

  8. 8 Beige Jul 10th, 2009 at 7:12 pm

And she would have signed this contract presumably while chloroformed and stuffed into a barrel…?

  9. 9 Koka Jul 10th, 2009 at 8:03 pm

Right…did she not read the thing before she signed it?

  10. 10 Bruce Jul 10th, 2009 at 10:14 pm

She was on Craig Fergusons show a while back and joked that it would be hard to find a movie that she hadn’t been nude in and made it clear the story about being “forced” into nude scenses was essentially a fabrication by the “journalist”.

    As she said in 2007:

“I’ve been naked quite a bit, actually,” she said. “You Google [Mary-Louise Parker naked], you’ll see it all.”

NSFW photo included … with a snake.

Koka – supposedly that’s what agents are for. When I had to sign a contract with LucasArts, I had a lawyer look it over and translate it into English I could understand…and that was just for a couple short stories. You’d think an actual ACTRESS would do that, wouldn’t you?

  12. 12 Pinandpuller Jul 11th, 2009 at 2:36 am

I think that she gets naked as often as Heather Graham does-not that there’s anything wrong with that!

  13. 13 JasonM Jul 11th, 2009 at 7:53 am

Anything that leads to more naked MLP is fine by me; threats, cajoling, begging, violence…if you have the goods, why hide them?

  14. 14 stonegrigio Jul 11th, 2009 at 11:19 am

I saw a picture of her w/her current stud in which her thong-clad butt was exposed by “accident.” I think he was pulling an Ashton on her (although, the dress she was wearing was basically a glorified t-shirt). Now, that was not the perky, barely-legal looking butt that’s in the shot of her with the snake.

  15. 15 Koka Jul 11th, 2009 at 1:30 pm

Oh yeah, I agree she didn’t mind letting it hang out, otherwise she’d have a no nudity clause. My point is this……these actors/actresses that cry foul over certain things they are asked/told to do because “they waved my contract at me and said I HAD to do it or get fired” are off their rockers to think the entire public buys that shinola. That makes my eyes roll so far back into my head that I can see my brainstem. Don’t sign the contract if you do not fully understand it no matter WHAT an agent/lawyer says, MLP has been in Hollywood long enough to know that and is not that naive. If you don’t want to do something, be sure its in there that you don’t want to do it. With that being said, California Dave is right, lawyers are familiar with legalspeak and a layperson would need one for translating…..but jeezum pete….don’t squall if you get caught with your undies off and your butt/boobs get shone from coast to coast. If you want to keep your naughties to yourself, then make it your responsibility to keep them to yourself.

  16. 16 Toubrouk Jul 11th, 2009 at 2:22 pm

Looks like a perfect “I had scruples but then I saw the amount on the check” moment. Or she got a PR guy who got no sense of timing.

  17. 17 Jess Jul 11th, 2009 at 3:55 pm

So basically, if you do one nude scene in your career, you have no right to object to any nude scene, ever. Good to know.

Absolutely ridiculous, but good to know.

  18. 18 Beige Jul 11th, 2009 at 4:14 pm

So basically, if you do one nude scene in your career, you have no right to object to any nude scene, ever. Good to know.

Do feel free to point out where anyone has said that here.

The point, obviously, is that having signed on to do them, it’s a bit disingenuous to jump up all “But I thought this was The Sound of MUUUUUUUUSIIIIIIC!“. You know, once the check has cleared and all.

  19. 19 Jess Jul 11th, 2009 at 11:40 pm

lmao. Any idiot knows nudity is going to be involved in a how like WEEDS

They may not realize the writers actually mean that they want to watch you take a shit.

    No SOM required, idiot.

  20. 20 Jess Jul 11th, 2009 at 11:40 pm

    show*

  21. 21 Beige Jul 12th, 2009 at 6:20 am

Well, moron, if that’s what the writers mean, and are going to demand, presumably it’s usually in the aforementioned contract. If it isn’t, the “star” is probably allowed to have a look at the contract, or have her agent or attorney do so. If she goes ahead and does it, THEN bitches about it, that’s on her.

  22. 22 Pearce Jul 12th, 2009 at 7:49 am

Or she could learn to read contracts herself. But ah, I am the spawn of attorneys. I have had “read it before you sign it” beaten into my head from birth.

  23. 23 Ari Ola Jul 12th, 2009 at 6:49 pm

I lover her big nipples and am just happy that she keeps wanting to show them off!

  24. 24 Beige Jul 12th, 2009 at 9:30 pm

I think most people have been taught that, but then again, look at the recent mortgage “crisis”. I wonder what percentage of those homebuyers didn’t bother to read anything they signed. Surely some did, and got into trouble anyway, but it’s likely most of them didn’t bother.

  25. 25 Desiree`01 Jul 12th, 2009 at 10:16 pm

She obviously had no prob with it, I think she covered her ass just in case people came out against it. When she got good feedback she took it further. Shes in her 40’s it probally made her feel good to get the offer im sure. so for all watching Weeds is she actually prego? I have lost my movies :-( help me out here!

  26. 26 Happy Camper Jul 13th, 2009 at 9:48 am

This is truly a subject for the “brain dead”. Who cares.

  27. 27 Beige Jul 13th, 2009 at 10:20 am

    Apparently you mustered some interest.

  28. 28 Happy Camper Jul 13th, 2009 at 11:05 am

No, I was looking for something to be interested in and gave up on the first try.

  29. 29 Angry Army Wife Jul 13th, 2009 at 11:38 am

    BEige,
I agree with you on the fact that many chose not to read the fine print. Many bought houses that they could no way afford and wanted it anyways.

  30. 30 snapnhiss Jul 13th, 2009 at 5:36 pm

When you all climb down from your high horses, please consider the fact that she was making a joke. She obviously has NO problem being nude and she shouldn’t… she’s gorgeous. As she said after the quote that has everyone here up in arms: “If you know me, it’s like, someone sneezes and I take my clothes off. I’m naked in Esquire in August. I was naked on the set the other day. I’m always naked. I’m naked right now, in fact.”

  31. 31 Beige Jul 13th, 2009 at 8:06 pm

I can see my house from heeeeeeeeeerrrrre!

Apparently this story needed a bunch more John/Elizabeth Edwards and Rielle Hunter to be of any interest…

  32. 32 Pastafarian Jul 14th, 2009 at 11:26 am

Hey Mary Louis Dreyfus or whatever the Hell your name is. Take the millions of dollars, or tens of dollars seems more accurate, that HBO will pay you and take your damn clothes off and shut up. Send me a money order for $50 and I’ll take my clothes off right now.

Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go finish digging this ditch in 105 degree weather.

  33. 33 bigmama Jul 14th, 2009 at 11:42 am

I’d be more shocked if she never took her clothes off, ever. It’s a prerequisite to get nekkid in H’wood, at least if you want to work.
