Of course, pairing hot babes with goofy, comic-looking guys is a traditional comic trope. It’s just inherently funnier than any other combination (both good-looking, both funny-looking, or good-looking guy with funny-looking woman). Think of vaudeville, the Marx brothers, Marilyn Monroe and Tom Ewell, any Jerry Lewis or Bob Hope movie, Jessica and Roger Rabbit, Playboy cartoons, etc. etc.

And maybe there’s some sexism and male wish-fulfillment in there, too (I had an ex who used to rail about that in cases like this). It could also be a dramatic choice: Rogen’s lack of movie-star looks makes him an Everyman, while casting a babe like Heigl adds dramatic tension and gives his character a tougher choice: if his girlfriend was unattractive, and especially if he were hotter than she was, the audience might think it unrealistic that he just doesn’t run when he hears her announcement. Would the movie would make dramatic sense if it had starred, say, Paul Walker and Rossy De Palma?

It’s like complaining that characters in action movies always get great parking spots and never need bathrooms: unrealistic, yes, but they’re unrealisms that serves the story.

However, just because I disagree with the tone of some people’s comments, doesn’t mean I hate the deceiver site, or you Simon. As a matter of fact, I love to check out this page daily, and you are my favorite poster without a doubt, as it takes a brave person these days to go out and criticize our president. Not to mention having anything considered close to a conservative opinion.

My point is that just because I disagree with you, you don’t have to portray me as an idiot for doing so.
