In-N-Out Of Conscious Eating

Everyone loves professional athletes on twitter.  Sure, teams and leagues are wary of what is being posted, but we fans get a little glimpse into the scandalous lives of professional athletes.  For example-  last night’s tweet from Candace Parker:candaceparker1

tough loss…..bounce back tom…tired, bangd up, grabbin inn n out den goin to bed!
1:54 AM Sep 2nd from mobile web

I’m trying really hard to ignore her inability to spell In-N-Out correctly (pretty basic, no?).  Instead let’s focus on the fact that one of the premier athletes in the WNBA (it still exists, I checked) was chowing down on fast food- albeit delicious fast food- after her loss.

It isn’t the fast food that’s the problem here.  Conveniently, Candace Parker has a deal with Adidas – so there is a whole lovely page of her lifestyle habits on the web.  On the page titled “Candace’s Summer Favorites” she details her summer diet.  Here is an excerpt:

I’m definitely conscious of what I eat, especially during the season, so I like to stay close to the produce and deli sections at the grocery store.

I’m pretty sure In-N-Out doesn’t qualify as conscious eating, but a tweet about eating grilled zucchini after a loss probably wouldn’t be as interesting.

    Who?

  2. 2 Fortunate_Son Sep 3rd, 2009 at 10:40 am

Maybe she got it “Animal Style” (inside reference for non Innnnnouttt people.)

“Focusing on whole foods keeps me energized throughout the season. I’m big on carbs to keep my energy up, so I eat a lot of pasta, fruits and breads (I love bread!). I really like veggies, also. Right now I’m big on grilling peppers, zucchini and fish. ”

Hey AAW, I was going to write “Who?”, but I was afraid my lack of sports knowledge and misogyny would be exposed, but she’s cute, and that’s usually good enough for the net!

  4. 4 Fortunate_Son Sep 3rd, 2009 at 10:43 am

I’ll bet Jrod and her could have some superhero babies.

  5. 5 Angry Army Wife Sep 3rd, 2009 at 12:26 pm

I know sports, but have no clue nor do I care on who she is

  6. 6 Minnow Sep 3rd, 2009 at 12:35 pm

I don’t know FS, does Jrod hit girls who can palm his cranium?

  7. 7 Bubba Sep 3rd, 2009 at 12:48 pm

I think you are being unreasonable. Its 2:00 in the morning and she is tired, sore, and hungry. She doesn’t want to cook. Where can you get healthy food at 2:00 AM? Not here in Sacramento! Unless she is doing it frequently, you might want to cut her a bit of slack here.

  8. 8 TheIrish Sep 3rd, 2009 at 1:23 pm

I think AAW has expressed our general sentiment, seriously, who is this person?

  9. 9 Hurricane Sep 3rd, 2009 at 1:37 pm

She eats a lot of Pasta?

    Uh-oh.

  10. 10 Liz Sep 3rd, 2009 at 2:02 pm

Don’t you have bigger fish to fry than some nobody cheating on their diet?

  11. 11 This Guy Sep 3rd, 2009 at 2:51 pm

The Sparks are only 2 games ahead of the last spot in the playoffs after last night’s loss, which was by 5, and in which she had a double-double. (Thank you, Google) That’s a break-your-diet night right there.

Anyone who eats at In-N-Out gets a pass. Period.

    Animal Style Fries, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, drool

I go to Tennessee, where Candance graduated from (and watching her and the Lady Vols was a religious experience) and despite how tough they trained and worked out, they were given passes to break loss for a bit (albeit with a curfew). I saw her a few times going to Jimmy John’s or eating at the Vols’ cafeteria chowing down on some Captain Crunch.

    Not really a big deal.

  16. 16 Kristine Sep 3rd, 2009 at 4:48 pm

    Mmmmm, In-N-Out… stupid Ohio, haha.

Well, she did say “at the grocery store.” Guess it’s free range all the other times.

  17. 17 JollyGreenMidget Sep 3rd, 2009 at 4:59 pm

Meh. Once in awhile is probably not going to kill her.

  18. 18 Fortunate_Son Sep 3rd, 2009 at 5:12 pm

I’ve got to say that In-N-Out might be a heart attack in waxed paper, but they’re about the only place where you can always count on the 16 year old kids behind the counter to always act professionally.

They do a very good job of training their employees.

  19. 19 Swede0319 Sep 3rd, 2009 at 5:15 pm

For those of you who have never eaten at In-N-Out, IMHO there is only one fast food burger that is better and that is the Wendy’s Triple with Cheese, extra pickel, tomato. NOM NOM NOM NOM.

  20. 20 Freak Show Sep 3rd, 2009 at 5:36 pm

I ate at In-N-Out. Not that good. More hype than substance.

As for her, I see the point, but again as has already been asked….

    WHO?

Does she count as a famous person? REALLY?

  21. 21 Swede0319 Sep 3rd, 2009 at 5:48 pm

Freak Show, not that I follow the WNBA, but she IS big news in the LA area. I seem to remember reading on ESPN that she was/is the leading scorer in the WNBA.

  22. 22 Stan Sep 3rd, 2009 at 5:56 pm

Women are allowed to play basketball? I’d rather watch paint dry.

The missus says In-N-Out isn’t so bad for the health conscious if you skip the dressing and get mustard and ketchup instead.

Personally I would put Double’z burgers and fries up against any other burger joint in Los Angeles. They make their food with a little dash of love.

  23. 23 Fortunate_Son Sep 3rd, 2009 at 6:10 pm

Damn, I thought that tasted salty…must’ve thought I was a cop.

They make their food with a little dash of love.

Stan, even Tommy’s? Not the knock-off’s, but the one on Hollywwod BLVD.

  25. 25 California Dave Sep 3rd, 2009 at 7:47 pm

Swede, love me the classic Tommy’s. We gotta meet up there sometime.

    To quote “Martian Boogie”:

“Get you one of the greasy hamburgers / All peppered up, lay you up in the hospital for about ten days.”

  26. 26 AKS Sep 3rd, 2009 at 9:31 pm

I wonder if a MALE athlete who had a deal with Bowflex or a protein drink company would get this same scrutiny.

  27. 27 Anonymous Sep 3rd, 2009 at 10:44 pm

This is possibly the stupidest post I’ve seen on deceiver.

    1. she’s just lost a game, and there’s nothing unreasonable about eating some easy comfort food when you’re “tired” and “banged up”
    3. she’s not that famous
    2. eating in-n-out once in a while does not mean you’re negating a diet based mostly around healthy food, and complete abstinence is the fastest way to fall of the wagon. so until you can provide proof that she’s scarfing down burgers on a regular basis, I don’t think she merits being on a blog documenting hypocrisy.

Actually yeah, when I was working with a trainer and a nutritionist, they were both totally okay with fast food. It depends on how active you are.

  30. 30 katie Sep 4th, 2009 at 2:13 am

have no idea who she is nor do i care. how could anyone could eat in n out then go to bed? ick.

  31. 31 Swede0319 Sep 4th, 2009 at 12:19 pm

CD, I usually go there after an evening of beers and Dodgers Baseball. IT’s either there, Pinks or Carney’s. All are AWESOME!

  32. 32 Jennifer Sep 4th, 2009 at 2:42 pm

I’m sure those on the best of diets like their share of a greasy burger now and then… Ice cream probably fits the situation best. Lol… The spelling issue. She was on mobile web… I have many typos on that thing. She deserves a break on this one :)

I love me some real Tommys and it’s close for the burgers but I assure you NOBODY makes fries better than Double’z. I do naughty things to them. In public.
