Yesterday, the greatest president in American history said this about Enemy of the People Joe Wilson:
“I’m a big believer that we all make mistakes,” Obama said. Wilson “apologized quickly and without equivocation. I am appreciative of that.
“I do think that, as I said last night, we have to get to the point where we can have a conversation about big, important issues that matter to the American people without vitriol, without name-calling, without the assumption of the worst of other people’s motives,” Obama said.
Today, Richard Wolffe quotes an unnamed White House “senior adviser” regarding the inability of the polls to recognize Obama’s greatness:
…In this adviser’s view, the town hall dramas didn’t take the toll everybody think they did; rather, the outbursts were largely politically irrelevant. “I don’t think the protestors hurt us,” the senior adviser said. “We’ve done three town hall meetings and they were all fine.”
In fact, the White House is more than ready to brush aside the now-infamous protest of Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina, who yelled at the President during his televised address. “I think this is a pimple on the ass of progress,” said the senior adviser.
Let’s move beyond the vitriolic namecalling, you ass-zit!
