Nancy Pelosi Stands By Her Own Words Until She Doesn’t

pelosi_joker_smallLast week, South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson uttered the Shout Heard ‘Round the World — “You lie!” Wilson then apologized to President Obama for the outburst, if not the message behind it, and Obama accepted.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared to take the high road about the whole thing. When asked if Wilson would be formally censured by the House, she said:

“It’s time for us to talk about health care, not Mr. Wilson.”

Which is of course why we’ve been doing the exact opposite for the past week. And why this is now happening:

The uproar over Rep. Joe Wilson’s shouting “you lie” at President Barack Obama returns to the House floor Tuesday for what could be a contentious and highly partisan debate over whether to formally criticize the South Carolina Republican.

The decision by Democratic leaders to bring a resolution of disapproval to the House floor was derided by Republicans, who said Wilson had already apologized for his remark during Obama’s health care speech to a joint session of Congress last week.

But it was also met with skepticism by a senior Democrat, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, D-Mass., who said he would vote against it. “I think it’s bad precedent to put us in charge of deciding whether people act like jerks. I don’t have time to monitor everyone’s civility.”

This is good to hear, considering he can’t even monitor his own.

Where’s Nancy? If it’s time for us to talk about health care, why isn’t she? Shouldn’t she be telling her colleagues to cut it out and get back on track?

Of course, she’s got her own problems with the truth:

YouTube Preview Image

That was back in May. Has she even attempted to back up that claim yet?

All this stress is wearing on her. Might be time for some more “health care.” The plastic surgeon probably just grabs her by the ears, plants his foot on the back of her head, and pulls.

In other pseudopolitical news: Obama Caught on Tape Calling Kanye “Jackass.” He sure didn’t think so back in January ‘08:

Senator Barack Obama plans to use Hip Hop artists to educate the American public if he wins the Democratic candidacy and becomes President…

“I’ve met with Jay-Z; I’ve met with Kanye. And I’ve talked to other artists about how potentially to bridge that gap. I think the potential for them to deliver a message of extraordinary power that gets people thinking (is massive),” Obama told Jeff Johnson during BET’s political special What’s In It For Us?.

Is Kanye really a different person now than he was when Obama still needed his help?

Nancy’s biggest problem with what Joe said is that it made her drop her jaw and by doing so loosened and moved her face in ways she pays good money to have not happen.
If she could have Wilson shot for this, I think she would.

  2. 2 Pastafarian Sep 15th, 2009 at 2:03 pm

Poor President Obama. 12 months into his administration, and it’s all summed up, to most people, by some guy no one has ever heard of out side the Carolinas with two little words. If you voted for Obama raise your hand.

How’s that workin’ out for ya?

  3. 3 California Dave Sep 15th, 2009 at 2:09 pm

You folks do realize that, by using that picture of Pelosi, you’re all racists. [/sarc]

  4. 4 jenn Sep 15th, 2009 at 2:14 pm

Best picture of Pelosi ever! Terrifying to think this woman is third in line to the presidency.

  5. 5 Pastafarian Sep 15th, 2009 at 2:15 pm

    Not for long.

  6. 6 Ln Sep 15th, 2009 at 2:19 pm

I would like to know how making a person look like the joker is racist. I think it just shows the truth about Nancy. She needs help with her makeup. Maybe she is like Demi more, has never had surgery in her life.

  7. 7 Aleric Sep 15th, 2009 at 2:46 pm

Hopefully her consituants in her home state will hand her walking papers and get in ANYONE else. Because if she loses her job as speaker she will have to sit around and do nothing but spend her husbands money.

This might be the first time I’ve read anything coming out of Barney Frannk’s mouth that made sense to me.

Oops. I wrote, “coming out of Barney Frank’s mouth…” I think I just threw up a little.

  10. 10 Laurie Sep 15th, 2009 at 3:31 pm

Pelosi…hmmm… isn’t this the Representative that channeled a fellow Marylander (Spiro Agnew) while uttering: UNAMERICAN….must be something in the water. Huh.

  11. 11 Koka Sep 15th, 2009 at 4:06 pm

    LOL…Simon, you did good!

You know, Pelousy makes it even harder for the rest of us women to be taken seriously in politics.

“Is Kanye really a different person now than he was when Obama still needed his help?”

Well, kinda, yea. I mean this blog never referred to Kanye as The Biggest Jerk Alive until this past week. Opinions of a persons character can change over time, especially when that person does something incredibly stupid and mean.

Pasta and Aleric, that beotch is from the San Fran area. Those wackjob nobs will NEVER vote it out of office. What do you expect from a bunch of people who cheer for the Giants, 49’s, A’s and the Raiders. Sheesh!

  18. 18 Pastafarian Sep 15th, 2009 at 6:38 pm

You’re right. I thought about that after I hit submit. But then, the only cool thing that came out of San Fransisco was Harry Callahan and these awesome size 12 heels I got on right now so there you go. What’s all that mean? I don’t know what am I, Kreskin?

When you spell check Kreskin on Firefox, the first option that comes up is foreskin.

Yo Obama, I’m happy for you and I’m going to let you finish, but Bush calling a reporter a major league asshole was one of the best off the record comments of all time!

And if my alcohol ravaged memory serves me right (which it doesn’t), W was given major cool points for when that happened too…..right?

  21. 21 Pearce Sep 15th, 2009 at 7:27 pm

Well ’cause y’know Irish, we up in da crib watchin dis….

  22. 22 Christopher Sep 15th, 2009 at 8:50 pm

Dems realize all they are doing is guaranteeing Wilson win in the next cycle right? Don’t any of them grasp that what they say is likely videotaped or on record in some fashion? It is a fact there have been lawmakers who have trashed the president with no retaliation like this. They’ve lost their minds.

  23. 23 AllyKat Sep 15th, 2009 at 9:53 pm

Pelosi and the Dems are full of it. Have they censored that guy from Louisiana with the cash in the freezer yet? Oh wait, corruption is okay, telling the truth isn’t. Silly AllyKat…

  24. 24 Mister Snitch Sep 15th, 2009 at 10:04 pm

I dunno about Pelosi as The Joker…
I just can’t see her burning down a warehouse full of money.

  27. 27 California Dave Sep 16th, 2009 at 2:27 am

Swede – for the record, right now I’m cheering for the A’s…because they’re playing the Rangers and every Ranger loss helps the Angels. :)

  28. 28 Ln Sep 16th, 2009 at 8:23 am

Can not believe this…Jimmy Carter is now getting in the fray, because he is soo important, saying that Mr. Wilson is a racist for saying “You Lie”. Why Why Why do these people use the race card every time someone disagrees with them? And why can’t they admit that Obama lies?

  29. 29 Angry Army Wife Sep 16th, 2009 at 8:53 am

CAuse they are democrats Ln. The Race card only applies to them, even though it IS the truth and Obama does lie. How many times did the Democrats call out President Bush and not a single one apologized. Here, they wasted a whole day on disciplining Wilson instead of focusing on real issues.

  30. 30 Ln Sep 16th, 2009 at 9:41 am

Talk about grandstanding. I wish I could get paid like that, with all the perks they get and not do any work. (No actually I don’t, I have morals and I think it is soo wrong to claim to be working and then not do any work.)

  31. 31 Beige Sep 16th, 2009 at 9:52 am

You know, if they’re going to ACT like a confederacy of dunces, I’m glad they’ve forgotten that we’re all watching. Because the more they out themselves as prats, and the longer they do it, the closer we get to midterm Congressional elections, with their collective asshattery fresh in the people’s minds.

Treasury Department redacts $366 Billion figure from its report on the likely cost of Cap and Trade legislation, that will likely raise personal income taxes $1,761 per year.

  33. 33 Fortunate_Son Sep 16th, 2009 at 10:04 am

LOL at Jimmy Carter. The only thing that Republicans and Democrats agree on is that Jimmy Carter was the worst president of all time.

Some of his writings on Israel are truly chilling. T

That he has collected millions in consulting fees from Palestine makes them even more so.

  34. 34 jenn Sep 16th, 2009 at 10:06 am

So we are upset about black panther thugs being let off on voter intimidation because the president is black.
We would be happy to pay thousands more for energy every year through cap and trade if the president were white.
And health care rationing and the public option would be acceptable were the president white.

    Does this make any sense?

  35. 35 Fortunate_Son Sep 16th, 2009 at 10:09 am

Despite the mass media mostly ignoring Acorn’s recent transgressions, it is #2 on the NYT most searched list.

We live about 45 minutes away from Jimmy Carter. People in this area get all tingly talking about how proud they are of that liver-lipped throwback. If a thing like Jimmy Carter were all I had to brag about, I’d go to Nepal and live as a goat.

Yeah, our opposition to a government health care takeover is purely racist. That’s why we didn’t want it when A WHITE WOMAN was pushing it.

  37. 37 Angry Army Wife Sep 16th, 2009 at 11:17 am

I, for one, am glad that the Congress voted to not give ACORN anymore money. They should have never gotten it to begin with. Amazing how the CEO of ACORN is saying that it is a witchhunt when so many of the ACORN offices are frauding the government. Hmmmm, I did not fall off of the turnip truck yesterday.

The American people ARE waking up.

  38. 38 Les Paul Sep 16th, 2009 at 1:02 pm

Beige, you must have forgotten that she was the wife of the first black president, so I guess she is really black not white.

(How’s that for twisted logic, sister … or is that Twisted Sister logic?)

  39. 39 Koka Sep 16th, 2009 at 2:00 pm

They are loving it because an old white guy from the south is saying we are racist when he is the stereotype of racism.

Carter needs to not be sticking an oar in that water.

  40. 40 turkeyguy Sep 16th, 2009 at 3:18 pm

Jrod, I’m with you, buddy. Of course, I’d hit it with an Orlando Cepeda special, like whackin’ a mule with a two-by-four just to get its attention…

  41. 41 AllyKat Sep 16th, 2009 at 9:15 pm

If racism were driving the opposition to health care “reform”, wouldn’t all the white people be for it? After all, the primary authors of the legislation is a bunch of white guys and a plastic white woman.

  42. 42 quigonkick Sep 16th, 2009 at 11:54 pm

Why won’t this woman suck start a flamethrower already?

  43. 43 Conrad Sep 17th, 2009 at 6:02 pm

Washington could save tons in cost if only they do away w/ the Secret Service. Obamanation does not need them. Nobody is going to assassinate him because we then would be stuck w/ Bidin and Heaven forbid he dies then we’d have Polosi. My brain hurts.

  44. 44 Pearce Sep 18th, 2009 at 2:32 am

Because, AllyKat, clearly it’s racist because um. In the current system, no one except white people gets health care. Or something. Either way, uh, asking people to pay money for stuff is racist. Just like credit scores are racist. Because expecting people to be responsible with credit is racist or something; I have no idea.

  45. 45 Angry Army Wife Sep 18th, 2009 at 9:57 am

When people disagreed with Bush, they were not called a racist. Now, the Obama team labels anyone who disagrees with anything a racist. How about just wanting to live our lives without their interfearance? Or how about wanting more money in my pocket than having to be forced to pay for other peoples mistakes. Like I told my husband the other night. I love giving to charity and donate clothes/items/money when we can. However, I should not be forced to donate.

  46. 46 Minnow Sep 18th, 2009 at 11:58 am

…I love giving to charity and donate clothes/items/money when we can. However, I should not be forced to donate.

And donate you will, till you’re on the other end of the bread line.
