If you thought the Associated Press was going to let up on pic-purloining plagiarist Shepard Fairey, think again!
Last week Fairey admitted lying to the court and falsifying evidence in his lawsuit against the AP. He said he was mistaken about which AP photo he’d used to create the now-ubiquitous HOPE poster, and that his unethical behavior was an attempt to cover up that mistake. The AP ain’t havin’ it:
The Associated Press said Shepard Fairey concocted the story that he was mistaken about which photo he used to create the famous Obama HOPE poster…
Days after Fairey acknowledged trying to destroy potentially damaging evidence in his legal battle with the AP, the news organization filed amended papers in Manhattan federal court on Tuesday accusing the poster artist of deliberate deception. Until recently, Fairey had claimed his image was based on a 2006 photo of then-Sen. Barack Obama, seated next to actor George Clooney. Fairey now says he used a solo, closeup shot of Obama, as the AP had long alleged.
“It is simply not credible that Fairey somehow forgot in January 2009 which source image he used to create the Infringing Works, which were completed only a year earlier in January 2008,” according to the papers filed Tuesday.
Which seems like a good point, especially considering it’s the image that made him world-famous. You’d think something like that would sorta stand out in your mind, huh?
Can Shepard Fairey even admit to a lie without lying? Sounds like he’s doing what political types call a “limited hangout”: When you’re cornered and you can’t get away with your lie anymore, tell just enough of the truth to get yourself out of trouble. Make it look like you’re coming clean, without revealing the stuff that makes you really guilty. Recent examples include John Edwards’ “confession” about the Rielle Hunter affair and pretty much any working day in the Obama White House.
Last week Fairey’s lawyers said they were quitting, but now they’re saying:
A spokesman for Fairey urged patience in seeing what would occur with Fairey’s legal representation. Asked about a timetable for the lawyers’ withdrawal, the spokesperson responded, “There’s a strong possibility that they will, but then again, that may not happen. Nothing’s been decided yet.”
He ripped off one photograph; no, it was another. He was mistaken; wait, how could he forget something like that? His lawyers are quitting; or maybe not. The Shepard Fairey case is like the weather: Just wait a few minutes and somebody will say something ridiculous about it.

HOPE= DOPE
If he destroyed the evidence after filing the suit, it will probably be thrown out. Heck, if he destroyed the evidence before filing the suit, it will probably be thrown out. Although, if he claims he is a minority, Sotomeyer will find a way to not only allow his case to continue, but also to rule in his favor.
Hat trick! Insulted Fairey, Obama (his nominee), and Sotomeyer. Three overrated, overcompensated fools.
Boy, not only is the President and his team pathalogical. But I am seriosly starting to wonder if there is something in the Koolaid. Everyone around this group seems to get a case of the “I forgot” or “I don’t remember.”
Let’s hope the Koolaid runs out before the election. I would hate for the general public to drink this again.
