PETA Steamrolls Jessica Simpson But Gives Angelina Love

jessica-simpson-shamu-05Animal Times is apparently no Cat Fancy — this magazine got controversial by allowing PETA to sink its claws into Jessica Simpson for performing at Sea World in May:

In the Purrs & Grrrs column in the latest Animal Times magazine, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals shows a dour Simpson and writes that she gets “whale-sized grrrs” for performing at the park.

However, two other politically active women familiar to Washington get coos from PETA. First is Sarah Brown, the wife of the British prime minister, who is praised “for rejecting both foie gras and veal on grounds of cruel production during a banquet hosted by French President Nicolas Sarkozy.” And actress Angelina Jolie gets a purr for “choosing to wear faux fur (a synchilla-trimmed hat and cape) while on the set of her latest movie, Salt.”

Sounds like PETA is still salty over Jessica’s “Real Girls Eat Meat” tee-shirt that was, incidentally, made from cotton. Unlike Angelina’s new $3300 Michael Kors leather minidress, which was made from real dead cow. (PETA may want to notice that Angelina the real-life actress was the one who chose to wear leather — as compared to her wearing faux while in character on the set of a movie that presumably had a costume designer.)

Also, you can be sure it’s not because of Shamu that PETA used the phrase “whale-sized” in connection with Jessica Simpson. Some people never learn.

Did I miss something about Sea World treating their animals harshly? Sea World’s always been big into conservation. It just must be a slow news day for PETA (i.e. Pam Anderson is too drugged out to do anything stupid for them)

I’m just surprised they didn’t come out with Jessica Simpson is a whale because she eats meat and blah blah vegan and yada yada better for you….

Me thinks they actually were a bit subtle. A new high. Or low. Choose your poison.

I know what that whale is thinking and I second the motion.

Man. Just when you think PETA has sucked an unbeatably epic amount of ass, they turn in some douchtastic performance like this. Anyone who can make me feel sympathy for Jessica Simpson has got to be scraping the bottom of the barrel.

So, which one is Jessica? The one on the right or the one on the left. I can’t tell the difference.

I’d hit it, even with the extra cushin!

Another day that ends with a Y and another idiotic spouting from PeTA.

When the Jolie-Pitt children start begging for puppies and kittens (which you just know they will get) I bet Angie gets slammed to the mat then.

    I bet not.

ONLY if Jennifer Aniston has anything to say about it. Because of how over it all she is. Isn’t. Whatever.

So Ms Brown gets warm fuzzies from PETA for not eating veal, but no comment on 0bama having a veal doghouse birthday cake???? WTF?

  12. 12 evil_tarantula Oct 29th, 2009 at 10:40 pm

Um, I meant to point out that he had it made for his dogs birthday.

Ugh. PeTA is like those bullies from high school all over again. They both did something to make PeTA mad but PeTa picks on the nice, slightly chubby chick who won’t fight back but leaves the skinny popular girl alone (cause you know she could beat you up or not speak to you, like, EVER.)
What’s next, blame Jess for letting her dog get eaten?? Oh sorry, her ’slave’ escaped back into the wild to be free. And if the dog hadn’t PeTA would’ve done basically the same thing to Daisy that the coyotes did. Good lord.

A morartorium should be placed on all P3TA stories on Deceiver.

P3TA’s sole goal is to make extremely controversial moves that ride free publicity.

Repeatedly aiming such a talented group of critics as the Deceiver commenters at P3TA only increases their visibility.

A token protest of P3TA might include the intentional and consistent misspelling of the brand, in order to both prevent their strategy from increasing their search engine rankings.

On a sidebar, I watched a brief Hillary Clinton ABC interview this morning on Pakistan and was left with two takeaways.

    1. Hillary Clinton does not support Obama’s policy of Appeasement, and I personally think the vast majority of Democrats would press the button today if they could replace Obama with Clinton as president.

    2. As she moved her face in the bright lights, I repeatedly saw the parallel telltale lines of a “threadlift” (string facelift).

There is very little doubt in mind she has had this procedure performed. I have watched a lot of Hillary interviews and never saw this prior to 21 days ago.

ugh…I am going to do something that is gonna leave a bad taste in my mouth.

In defense of PeTA against Sea World; they have a point when it comes to how a lot of places like Sea World get their animals. Most places (zoo’s, hotel resorts, aquariums) around the world get their dolphins from a sleazy broker (I forget his name…did some research several years ago about it). This guy helps to fund the dolphin hunts that seem unnescessary (speaking as an outsider). He gets orders from all over the world and goes along with the hunt. When the dolphins have been coraled he picks out several for capture. Sea World used to get their dolphins in the same manner back in the 70’s and 80’s. They don’t anymore but animal rights activists are annoyed that Sea World does not speak out against the practice and that these broker guy is a regular at industry events. The head of Sea Worlds animal management (or whatever his title is) has publicly stated he doesn’t like the guy or the practice but wouldn’t he be a hypocrite since that’s how Sea World started?

Fortunate Son – You are very wise, I second the motion!

  19. 19 MC Mom Nov 2nd, 2009 at 2:09 pm

Agreed, Fortunate Son. Let’s not give P3TA the publicity they are clearly tripping over themselves to get.

I certainly don’t have a problem with Jess perfoming at Sea World.

But I do wonder, did she play Shave & a Haircut on bulb horns or just balance a ball on her nose?

It’s sooo amazing what a little reward training can do for blondes these days…
