You had to feel bad for country star Taylor Swift last September, when Kanye West got his drink on and ruined her big moment at the People Still Watch MTV for Some Reason Awards:
Whoops, wrong clip. Well, you remember what happened, right? “I’m real happy for you, Taylor, but I’m doing this anyway,” and so forth. There was speculation that it was all a publicity stunt since Swift and West share an agent, but I dunno. She seemed genuinely mortified to me. Also, Swift & West would be a cool name for a cop show.
Anyway, she got kinda tired of talking about it. Here’s what happened when a Tampa Bay DJ got a little too nosy:
Radio host MJ persistently asked Swift about the incident after she’d answered his initial questions and repeatedly but politely asked him to move onto another subject.
“Well, you know, I think that the outpouring of love is what I focus on about that whole thing, and getting flowers from Janet Jackson is something that I never thought would happen in my whole life,” she initially answered. “Just everybody being supportive and showing love, it was really nice [to know] people I didn’t even think knew who I was were out there having my back and being really very kind to me.”
After MJ, who also had Miley Cyrus abruptly end an interview with him in June, asked about it several times, she very politely said: “You know, honestly, I’m trying not to make it into a bigger deal than it already is. It’s kind of become more of a bigger deal than I thought it would be. I would just like to move on a little bit. … I didn’t know what to think but I think we should talk about something else. It’s nothing I feel like we should talk about.”
After yet another question, she handed the phone to her rep and moved on herself — to another interview.
Ouch! Let that be a lesson to you, people: Just drop it.
Hey, she’s hosting SNL this week. Check it out!
Well, in her defense, Saturday Night Live is not a radio guy in Florida. And really, it’s more of a joke about how annoying people are, especially when they work for late-night comedy shows. Plus, there’s the joke about Bill Hader’s scrotum to liven things up. So never mind.
