I have plenty of points against him:
1. He hasn’t made a good album since Holywood.
2. He’s 40 years old at yet he brag about cutting himself like he’s a fifteen year old girl.
3. And speaking of 15 year old girls, you’d have to be a 15 year old girl to think that any of his “concepts” are original. He comes off like college freshman who just took his first course on Dada, and like most college freshmen, misunderstood it completely.
4. Flirting with fascism? Bowie did it. Babbling about Brecht and Weil? Artist like Tom Waits have been taking inspiration from them when Manson was still sitting in his bedroom and popping his pimples in tune with Back in Black. And unlike Manson’s piss poor attempts, Waits does it right.
5. Back to him being 40, nothing wrong with being 40, but instead of embracing his age,and learning from it, Manson has decided to party like it’s 1996. Which makes him well, rather pathetic.
He’s a poor, sad third rate Alice Cooper and fourth rate Andy Warhol. Lots of played out blood and guts with no substance underneath.

I do happen to be a Marilyn Manson fan (one of the few left in existence, or so everyone seems to think), and quite honestly I do like the video. It’s one of my faves of his. But to my other MM fans, don’t get pissy because no one else likes it. I don’t. It’s Marilyn Manson, it’s not for everyone. I could care less if Perez likes it or not. What I care about is the double standard that’s being set.
People like Perez Hilton want to preach all day long about we should be tolerant of other people and value people for who they are, but they don’t really mean it. They like to have standards but pick and choose what to apply them too. I like Lady Gaga, and I loved the Paparazzi video, thought it was something new and cool. But violence is violence, there’s no middle ground.
Btw, please don’t come at me with all the reasons I’m stupid for being an MM fan. I’ve heard them before, haha. I’m not saying that he’s original or the greatest artist that ever lived; I just like him for some strange reason. You don’t have to, and my liking him should no bearing on your life.

FTR, I really don’t care either way about gay marriage, and its just not a pivotal issue for me.
If I could press a button to simultaneously evict Obama from the White House and greenlight gay marriage, I would take that tradeoff today.
But strategically I think that cause made a big mistake by introducing Perez Hilton to America as their default figurehead.
Anyone in California knows a hundered more professional, more accomplished gay men or women who don’t have burglary convictions under their belts, and Hilton is a cliched, feminine man, “painted lady” of a gay professional.

None of them put him in his position and none of them would have wanted to put him in his position. Fortunate Son – There are several much more sane people who are more outspoken about gay marriage than Perez Hilton is, but they’re not as famous and nothing makes headlines like someone being obnoxious. If Activist X can’t get as much publicity as PH because he’s a reasonable human being who doesn’t call people bitches and draw semen on their faces, that’s not necessarily his fault.
In your mind, what would constitute the GLBT community not being silent? Who is it you think is the spokesperson? Because right now HRC and GLAAD, the usual suspects, are being rejected by a lot of other organizations and activists. When it comes to a group that isn’t voluntarily formed around an ideology, it’s hard to claim “the community has been silent” because “the community” hasn’t got some kind of official leadership.
