Mariah Carey may have once been PETA’s hero for donating a collection of her designer fur coats, but you have to wonder about her commitment to animal rights when the notorious diva bizarrely demands to be surrounded by 20 pure white kittens and 100 white doves as she turns on a London shopping mall’s Christmas lights:
[It] appears her demands for white kittens and doves – which were already proving difficult to track down – were just too much for her hosts.
A source said: ‘We did manage to source the doves that we were going to release into the sky, but the kittens proved terribly difficult.
In the end, it was made clear that due to health and safety, there was no way we could have the animals at Westfield.
‘We do not allow pets into Westfield — that rule would apply for everyone.
‘We have worked extremely hard to make sure that Mariah’s event is fantastic. Even the model of car had to be changed six times to one that her people liked.’
Before health and safety stepped in, finding 20 pure white kittens was giving Miss Carey’s hosts a headache.
The simplest way would be to hire them from one of Britain’s animal acting agencies. But it was thought impossible to provide so many at short notice.
Pet shops have the same problem. One worker at a shop in South-West London said last night: ‘We could get you one but not 20. For starters, all-white kittens are not all that common in Britain.’
Yet mum’s the word from PETA now that she’s pulled this stunt. Since when do they not have a comment about such an egregious use of disposable animals as props?

Peta is a bunch of useless twerps. They don’t do any good- I sure don’t see Peta volunteers at shelters walking animals, or opening their homes to foster animals. They exist purely to nag others about animal behavior. Despite their holier-than-thou attitudes they also selectively ‘forget’ about people like Mariah. If you’re going to lecture people about animal rights, you should support animal rights. Everywhere.
That’s why, in my opinion, they’re not needed. Peta fails pathetically in making a positive difference because of their own hypocritical agenda.

I wonder if the Petards know that those released doves WILL DIE shortly after their release. The doves aren’t trained to return, they are bred to be DISPOSABLE decorations, and once they are let go, they are on their own. Within a matter of days, all of Mariah Carey’s pretty, little backdrops are the victims of starvation, predators, and just plain bad luck.
I hate Petards, but I know enough not to support dove releases. Those assholes have not said a word about that, have they? Hypocrites.
