I’m stunned that so many people have chosen NOW, specifically THIS event, to complain about sex on network TV. Why now, folks? A glance at any network sitcom, awards show, TV movie, or even newscast would give you plenty to complain about. Sure, there hasn’t been any simulated gay oral sex before Mr. Lambert, but there’s been so much equivalent crap for so long that I’m amazed that anyone even notices it anymore. How is this any worse? Anyone who’s ever seen even a ten-second YouTube clip of Mr. Lambert on American Idol would have seen this coming (pardon the pun, not intended) from a mile away. I think ABC put a notoriously flamboyant performer on TV and then acted shocked when he was–gasp!– notoriously flamboyant. It’s like inviting Steve-O on your show and then being surprised when he acts like a jackass. Wake up, people.

And I am completely unimpressed with people who say “that shouldn’t be on TV, I don’t want my kids watching that.” I don’t want my little cousins watching “Two and a Half Men”, either, but I don’t whine about it being on TV. I vote with my remote. If you don’t like it, shut up and TURN IT OFF! C’mon, take some personal responsibility for once! You can do it!

And a note to Chris Brown: shut your piehole and go the hell, woman-beater. The less positive attention you get, the better.

I’d take a boy-kissing Adam Lambert over a girl-beating Chris Brown ANY DAY. Love and peace over violence. And besides, what were expecting from a performer like Adam Lambert? I’m guessing it wasn’t “nothing less than unpredictable”.

Ally, while I agree that it wouldn’t have been as sexy a story, I don’t think that had the “Roger” instance happened that it should have garnered just as much attention or offended the same amount.

Unless Rihanna was pointing a gun at Ms. (yes, MS.) Brown, there really is no reason for him to have gone off like he did. It is – and should be – different when it comes to man-to-man fisticuffs.

Not a thing against women, but you can’t tell me that there is no difference between a man/woman fight and a man/man fight (again, not counting firearms, pepper spray, nude pictures of Al Gore, or any other non-fleshy weapon). Perhaps if there was an physical equality in the realm of fight, I’d agree with your point.

Oh, I’m right with you on voting with my pocketbook/viewership/etc quigonkick. I think that there are certain things/crimes that aren’t forgivable, and I tend to place beating the crap out of women in that category. I just think it is odd that most people (and I include myself in this) probably wouldn’t be that upset about the whole debacle if Rihanna was a guy named Roger. Stupid sociology class has me overthinking everything. Regardless, I’m with Strawberry Girl. I don’t want to watch either of them on TV.

It’s a good thing I wasn’t drinking anything when I read the “seaweed arms” comment. LOL.
