Yesterday on The View, Joy Behar defended Tiger Woods’s betrayal of his wife because “he has never held himself as one of these pro-marriage, right-wing, kind of guys who is anti-gay. In other words, the guy is not a hypocrite in his personal life.”
Token conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck weakly attempted to shut down this line of thinking, which really was unnecessary because letting Joy Behar continue to speak is usually the most effective way to point out the absence of logic in her words:
Joy Behar: Let me finish the freakin’ sentence.
Elizabeth Hasselbeck: So what if he were? I’m just a little bit confused. It’s acceptable if he’s not conservative?
JB: La la la la la la la la.
EH: It’s not OK! It doesn’t matter what your politics are or what you stand for. It’s not OK.
JB: I am talking about hypocrisy.
EH: If I make a vow to you, I am married to you. How about the hypocrisy in his wedding vows? How about that?
JB: That’s personal hypocrisy. I’m talking about societal hypocrisy.
Oh, well then. As a professional hypocrisy pointer-outer (and token liberal in my own right), even I fail to see the difference.

The more Joy talks I wonder how in the hell I am not rich and she is? Seriously – besides being a bitter old lady, what does she have that makes her so talented? And Elizabeth is correct. Hypocracy with the wedding vows.
Remember the rule – when a conservative cheats, they are hypocrites and should be run out of town.
When a liberal cheats, it’s “just sex”.
75% of blacks nationwide oppose gay marriage. Just figured Joy should know that.
Yep. Remember girls: If you marry a Liberal, when they cheat on you it’s okay with society.
Those silly Liberal scamps!
Thank the lord I married a Conservative then. If he ever cheated, I would hang him up to dry!
PASTA! You can’t say ‘blacks’! That’s RACIST! Joy said so when she declared the term “Black Friday” racist.
http://newsrealblog.com/2009/12/01/who-are-you-calling-dumb-palin-basher-joy-behar-thinks-%E2%80%9Cblack-friday%E2%80%9D-is-a-racist-term/
Every time I feel like just giving up because I will never be mistaken for a member of Mensa, Joy Behar opens her mouth and I think, “Eh, could be worse.”
Black Friday is an accounting term, no one really expects Joy to understand that. If your business is “in the red” it doesn’t mean it’s managed by the Ojibwa Tribe.
Black is a POSITIVE accounting term. Black Friday was the first day that businesses traditionally were “in the black” – the first day of the year that they MADE money. The holiday season is when most businesses (commodities wise) make most of their money for the year. If you were “in the red”, you weren’t making money and owed more than you had. (The colors are supposed to be derived from using red ink to mark expenses or debts and black ink for income.) Come on now, I knew that in high school.
If you are legally married, you told the state that you were going to honor your vows. That sounds like societal hypocrisy to me. Plus, she said he wasn’t a hypocrite in his “personal life”, then two seconds later states he committed “personal hypocrisy”.
I guess even Joy doesn’t listen to herself.
Okay, so only conservatives got values in America? Weird…
We got them in the divorce. The liberals got the media and Algore.
Suckers!!!
Hee. AllyKat FTW! Brilliant!
You know that phrase, “talking out of your ass”? Well, “The View” features an ass that’s talking out of its Joy Behar. Fascinating.
Is Behar married? Hope not, poor fella if she is.
Congrad – I think she actually called of the wedding, if you can imagine. Some guy was actually willing to pledge to love her forever. How scary is that? Being married to her would make him want to cheat.
Well, when you live your life with no boundaries, it’s not hard to refrain from contradicting your own morals… in other words, Joy can’t be a hypocrite which is why she can’t wrap her mind around the concept.
Uh I hate how if someone proclaims they try to live a good life but then fails, the media eats them up. I mean, give them some creidt for trying to improve society! Heroes don’t have to be perfect.
PS Next time some liberal tries to tell me that they have equal moral values, and religion isn’t necessary for moral grounding, I’m going to bring this up. Apparently liberals are equally moral, but can also do whatever the heck they want with no punishment. (Maybe I should just buy a tape recorder and play back leftwing people’s contradictory statements in an argument)
I guess if the media can change what socialism means, they can redefine hypocrisy too.
Catharine: Check your local laws, recording an idiot, I mean liberal, may be illegal, especially if they are advising you on tax-fraud, child prostitution, human trafficking, and premeditated murder. In that circumstance the real crime is recording someone without their permission.
Liberal or conservative, cheating is cheating.
This is why I don’t have a political stance.
How could all of you miss Joy’s contradiction of HERSELF if just this one clip?
“In other words, the guy is not a hypocrite in his personal life.”
Followed by:
“That’s personal hypocrisy. I’m talking about societal hypocrisy.”
No Joy, you weren’t. You were talking about how he was NOT a hypocrite in his PERSONAL life, then when you get called to the carpet, you can somehow change “personal” to “societal?”
Does she even know that she did that? I doubt it.
I’m a liberal, but I think that what she said is crap. I’m sick of seeing successful men who will poke it anything that stays still for long enough, but still put out the ‘golden family’ publicity. It makes no difference what your politics are, if you are in the public eye and you allow you family to be a part of your image, then you are sending a message (either implicit or explicit), so don’t hound it about.
And as for people who tie themselves in knots trying to justify it, please, just stop! OK, it is your hero, but come one, remember that our idols often have feet of clay. Oh, and Joy, stop trying to make it about politics, you are the reason that people think that liberals are hypocrites.
Um, yeah… where exactly does her correlation between being “anti-gay” and faithful in a marriage come from? So, am I automatically “anti-gay” because I’m faithful to my husband? WTF does that mean? And if Tiger is not “pro-marriage” as she claims, why did he GET MARRIED?! Why is this woman on T.V.?
fallingstar, I think it’s because everything, with a capital “EVERYTHING”, is all about gays. If you prefer mustard to ketchup, that’s a stance on gay marriage. If you like historical fiction more than SF, that’s equivalent to gaybashing. It is ALL ABOUT gays. Whether or not gay men and lesbians actually made it that way, or whether this was done by hairy, braying polyps like Behar, is a matter for discussion.
“he has never held himself as one of these pro-marriage, right-wing, kind of guys who is anti-gay. In other words, the guy is not a hypocrite in his personal life.”
I didn’t know he cheated with a man. I thought that Uchitel woman had rather manly features, but dayum! Learning something new every day…Thanks, Joy.
