Another week, another Chris Brown tirade. This time it’s because he went to a Wal-Mart in Connecticut and was told the store would be passing on the opportunity to sell his post-felony–conviction album, Graffiti.
So because complaining on YouTube didn’t go over so well last time, he resorted to Twittering his tantrum:

For starters, don’t play like you still have young fans, douchewad.
But more importantly, that tweet from 12:04? “what the f-ck do i gotta do”? Maybe he should start with not pretending like repeatedly smashing Rihanna’s face against the window of a car was all some big misunderstanding. You are not the victim here, Chris Brown.

How about he learns to speak on this planet and not up on Mars
I’m just happy to see retailers are boycotting him. Does anyone know which retailers? I’d like to let them know I support their choice to not carry his album.
**Mouths the words”Too Bad”**
Fallingstar, the NY Daily News says Wal-Mart, Bleeker Music Store, Colony, and Other Music are all boycotting. Best Buy and Kmart are selling it, but not well. He’s moved less than 100,000 copies in the album’s first week (compared to nearly 300,000 in the first week of his last album).
Because I buy all of my “albums”, and songs from Pandora.com, or Slacker.com or – God forbid – iTunes, I’m always surprised people actually go to a store and buy CDs anymore. I bought a Good Charlotte Cd in 2002 (yeah I know shut up) for a song I liked. It was the only decent song on the entire album and it cost me almost $17. I was so pissed I swore I would never, ever buy a full album again, and I immediately downloaded WinMX at the time, and never looked back. I have no idea where I was going with this so screw Chris Brown.
“The industry” can kiss his ass? Looks more like they’re kicking it to me. And that makes me want to buy “the industry” a big old sandwich.
Ah, thanks Holly. I poked around and couldn’t find any information. I can always count on you guys to find the scoop!
@Pastafarian pshh! I still get my music on CDs, what are you trying to say? *kidding* Mostly what I listen to is dance/techno and it’s all just “unh’s” and “tsst’s” anyway. So, the whole CD is a win.
Yes, he wouldn’t want to offend his young fans with all that cursing. Just stick to that woman beating, it’s much more kid-friendly.
Oh no! Walmart’s lying to their costumers!
It appears that WalMart is still selling his CDs on their website. I sent them an email letting them know how I feel about that.
Amazon is awesome for buying music too. Waaaay better than iTunes, because they come as mp3s so you can listen them on everything, and not mp4s or whatever those dorks that have iPods call them.
Take that mp4s!
Dear Chris Brown:
Suggest you call Green Day and discuss Wal-Mart’s long-standing policy about stocking family-friendly music.
Then, if you want your statements to be taken seriously, I’d suggest you work on your spelling and sentence structure.
Just a thought.
AAAUUUGGGGHHH. Good catch, Robin. You’d think that if he wanted to criticize somebody, he’d at least bother to use the proper word. But this IS Chris “Yo, beatn down bitchez be PRIVATE” Brown, so I guess you can’t apply the same rules you use for sentient creatures.
ahhhhhh…. schadenfreude. say it with me now, Chris. scha·den·freu·de
Deceiver.com, you have finally offended me. And I’m no “PC” get-offended-at-anything kinda person.
I really mean it… you’ve gone too far.
How DARE you put this story under the “musicians” category. I myself am a musician and I will NOT tolerate being – even by proxy, if that’s the right word – lumped into the same ANYTHING as this walking butt plug. If Miss Brown is a musician, than I am a resident of Saturn that moonlights as a yeti hawking spent fuel rods in Times Square. It’s bad enough I have to share the planet with him, so please do not add to my discomfort footprint.
Grassy ass.
And for the record, I’m still very much into physical music. I need the artwork, the credits, and other info. Music is to be experienced and not just chucked into an iPod and passively heard (notice I didn’t say “listened to”) for 3 minutes on the way to the gym. Digital music (not that I don’t buy any, ’cause I drive that road too) and the way music is made nowadays is KILLING the very art supposedly being sold. “You get out of it what you put into it.”
I smile with the downfall of major labels. A Cheshire cat smile, washing down the inhaled bird with a fifth of absinthe.
(Enter sarcasm-free zone)
Those of you who get burned shelling out for a whole CD that has only one good song… heh… you probably didn’t know what you were buying to begin with. Please cease to believe that “the song on the radio” is in any way indicative of the whole album. Better yet, do yourself a favor and turn OFF your radio and dig around for music that is worth listening to, made by people who do so without the benefit of maids and bellhops.
Eventually, people frustrated with how it is will give up on music altogether and simply GO AWAY, spending their money while watering down some other art form. While this will mean the end of a LOT of music being made, music’s purity and integrity will be somewhat restored… no more Nickelbag, no more Sheryl Cow, no more Miley Virus, and certainly no more cavity creep wannabes like Miss Brown.
Typing that last line, I caught myself humming “Imagine”.
Eh, I can kind of see why he’s so upset. It’s hypocritical of the music industry that he gets boycotted for his felony, but all the other gangsters/woman beaters/murderers in the rap industry are ignored, or not permanently effected. It’s sad to think that if it was just some random woman he beat up, no one would care that much.
That being said, he deserves to be boycotted for his crime. But everyone else committing felonies should be too! Anyway, I doubt his puny little head can wrap itself around any deep thoughts of why he’s being punished.
I’d be upset too if my feet were being held to the fire on something I chose to do THAT WAS REALLY STUPID. Nobody normal enjoys punishment (or in her case, responsibility). I’m beside myself in glee now that her game is up and the heydays of sports cars-n-caviar can be counted on a clenched fist.
It’s not the music industry I see boycotting her. It’s the retailers. The music biz must be holding its collective breath and didgedly eyeballing each other, hoping this blows UP rather than IN… like when you were a kid and played statue when your parents walked into a room while you were doing something you shouldn’t have been doing… cause it was your ONLY option?… kinda like how Al Hore is hoping to turnitallaroundquicklike and hope that people buy into the Global Warming hype MORE instead of LESS.
(Didja hear that GOREon is claiming that ice will be gone in 5 years? You mean to tell me that we’re gonna have to wait half a decade for MORE visual proof he’s talking out of his exit orifice?)
Oh wait, he served under Cliton, make that INTAKE orifice.
Back to Miss Brown…
Until she personally gives me the chance to kick her mudflaps sideways, I’ll rail against her every chance I get. Or until I tire of it.
Speaking as a former employee of “the music industry,” I can guarantee you pretty much everyone figured this would flop. I’m surprised he got anywhere close to 100,000 sales.
Oh yeah, and music retailers are considered part of “the music industry.”
And also, there is plenty of music that makes it onto the radio that’s produced by artists who DON’T make bajillions of dollars. Who are still driving around in 20-year-old cars that barely run, and who have to find temp jobs whenever they’re not on tour. On top of that, stop thinking that popular=bad. Seriously, I’m so sick of that attitude. Those are the same people who turn around and call their formerly “favorite” bands sell-outs whenever they DO start picking up fans….instead of being HAPPY for their success. Trust me; I literally squeal with glee every time I see a that CD from an artist I used to watch play at the local hole in the wall has gotten itself some shelf space with a major retailer. If you don’t, you’re more focused on being “cool” and “indie” and “obscure” and whatever else than you are actually caring that good people are putting out good music.
…..okay, rant off. That hits a major nerve with me.
Referring to Chris Brown as a woman is insulting to women. All women. If you refuse to acknowledge that Chris Brown is genetically XY, at least refer to Chris Brown as “it” out of courtesy for us of the XX variety.
I am, as previously stated, now placing Chris Brown in the same category as R. Kelly. Nothing that I can say about his/its music will be any more ridiculous or hilarious or sad than his/its music left to stand alone. Chris Brown, you are a parody of yourself. And the next thing you know, you’re going to be pulling an R. Kelly and putting videos of half-songs up on Youtube about “how real shit gets when ya arguin wit ya girl….real talk.”
“Miley Virus”!! LOL!
Quigonkick, my brother (a professional musician) says pretty much the same thing, although in a different style. He’s 33 years old, but if you mention Chris Brown to him, you can count on spending the next five minutes listening to fart noises.
@quigonkick- I’m not sure if that was directed at anyone here or not, but trust me, I don’t have the problem of “buying the CD just because I heard one song I liked and then ended up hating the whole CD and wasting money”. And I don’t like downloading music. I like physical CDs and always will. I may be the only one walking around my campus without a freakin iPod stuck in their ears all day, but that’s fine. I don’t like to be plugged in the way my entire generation is.
As far as musical preferences go, I like what I like. That can mean it’s something I did hear on the radio and decided to check out more on the internet, or it can mean I just scored a fat stack of techno CDs for 50 cents a pop at the thrift store.
To clear up a couple things:
I’m not trying to tell anyone what to listen to. I’m not trying to be “obscure” or “indie”… I’ll leave the scene-chasing to the kiddies… if it’s good it’s good and it’s up to the individual to make that choice. I guess I wasn’t saying what I was trying to say the way I was thinking it.
Or something.
Pearce, points taken, but perhaps a little too quick to lump me in with those irritants. Popular doesn’t always equal bad- true – but when in my shoes, it’s like sifting through a septic tank to find an M&M… Not to say some pop doesn’t scratch me the right way, but it’s not often enough to make it my main course. It’s just how I roll, and that certainly doesn’t make it THE way.
I understand that some of the stuff I loathe may just keep someone from shooting up, jumping off a building, or yelling at their spouse. There’s no way I’d want to banish certain types of music from the planet. I just think that if most people dug a little deeper, they’d get a lot more satisfaction out of the music they choose.
Lastly, I’m not bagging on anyone here. I love you guys.
*wipes tear from eye* That was touching. There’s a lot of love here at Deceiver.
I guess I’m not one of those ‘music’ people who ‘digs deep’ to find new music. I like a very small, specific niche of the music world and fortunately I don’t have to dig deep. I wouldn’t have the time anyway, as my nose is always buried in books/studying (except when this website distracts me).
@Beige “The industry” can kiss his ass? Looks more like they’re kicking it to me.
Oh, they are kiss his ass alright. Kissing it goodbye.
I also work in the industry and know that the retailers ARE the industry in some cases. Wal-Mart is notorious for making artist change their movies/lyrics to be more “family friendly” to the point of releasing titles that bear little resemblance to the original. In other words, they censor, so I don’t get why he is not being censored out of the industry. Oh, wait, the public is also having their say and telling the retailers to stuff it. Sometimes good old classic capitalism works best by protesting with your wallets.
On a good note – Garth Brooks is now out of retirement. Now there is a musician I can listen and understand. Chris Brown who?
If they censored Miss Brown, there’s be nothing but instrumental tracks on her CDs. Assuming they censored out anything that was stupid.
A blind lashout for certain, but still…
Garth is back?! OH MAN OH MAN OH MAN OH MAN. Ohhhhhhh. Man. Pumped. I am pumped. angry army wife, you just made my DAY.
(seriously unapologetically stoked.)
If stupidity was censored, we wouldn’t hear from the government ever again.
….I still insist that Chris Brown be referred to as “it” instead of any feminine pronoun. For the dignity of women everywhere. Seriously, we want nothing to do with that. Men can kick it out of their gender all they want, but we aren’t gonna take it in as a result.
In other news, the nearly 100,000 people who did purchase his album should be ashamed to breathe our air.
There’s a song on that album called, “I’ll go”. If only, my friends.
If only.
Catharine, my thoughts exactly. If they are going to boycott him and his “music”, boycott all the others who had aslo commited crimes – R.Kelly comes to mind, for instance. Axl and Tommy Lee did the exact same thing Chris Brown did, didn’t see them or their music being boycotted. I, too, think that if he had assaulted some unknown girl rather than Rihanna, we wouldn’t have even heard about that and he’d still be peddling that s**t he calls “music” to his unsuspecting “costumers”.
Sweet smokin’ Judas, is THAT ever right.
@Pearce “In other news, the nearly 100,000 people who did purchase his album should be ashamed to breathe our air.”
These are the same people who buy the gangster rap that says it is OK to beat & rape women, so I am not surprised it sold so many. These people don’t see anything wrong with keeping your woman in place by degradation and physical intimidation. In other words, they don’t know what it is like to be a real man and not a poser.
Dear Chris Brown Album Purchasers,
You are the real reason polar bears are dying and there’s no ice at the North Pole and whatever else they whined about in Copenhagen. I bet you also club seals with croquet mallets, stuff them behind the Piggly Wiggly, and then pour red paint on every person you see wearing a dead animal as a fashion statement, too.
i’m surprised fricking WALMART wouldn’t cell his CD. (but good!) chris is just pissed because their prices can’t be beat (sad but true.. especially since i’m without a job at the moment i go there) and he probably thought “WHY CAN’T I DO THAT?” i mean other than bitching and complaining (yes chris brown, life’s tough) the only thing he can do is beat up on women. classy..
Wal-Mart is hypocritical. They are by far the ones who force producers to censor their products the most. They refuse to sell his album in their stores, which is in line with their policy. But to then sell it on the internet to just rake in $$ due to the controversy tells you that even their morals can be bought. Capitalism wins out over morals every time. Once more, do as I say and not as I do seems to be the winning mantra.
ShyAsrai – respect!
