I hate to be the bearer of devastating news, but Tyra Banks has tearfully announced the end of her talk show, effective at the end of this season.
Tyra skeptics might wonder “why wait?” but more devoted fans can find comfort in the fact that she’s not going away anytime soon. The new cycle of America’s Next Top Model premieres in February and on top of that, Tyra confides to People that she is starting her own production company:
Banks will focus on the launch of Bankable Studios, a N.Y.-based film production company currently reviewing possible projects. Sticking to her mission, Banks aims to bring “positive images of women to the big screen,” says an industry insider.
“My next huge steps will allow me to reach more women and young girls to help us all feel as fierce as we truly are,” Banks says.
Because if there’s one thing the chief judge of a modeling competition is good at, it’s making young and impressionable girls feel good about themselves.

Yes, the thing most women are truly missing in their lives is a sense of fierceness. How on earth have we functioned so long without it?
She is photogenic though. As long as it’s from the neck up. And it’s a still photo where you can’t hear her talk. Her eyes look gigantic, almost as big as her forehead.

she IS gorgeous. unfortunately, so many years in the insular & detached-from-common-reality world of celebrity has skewed her thought processes, even if she truly does want to do good.

I’m sad about Oprah. But Tyra? TV is better off without her. But wait. Oh no! There’s that modeling show. And noooooo! A production company? Enough Tyra!
I must be one of the few that was happy when Oprah decided to leave. But I know I am surrounded by others that feel just as happy that Tyra is leaving the airwaves.

I don’t even have cable anymore. I do have Netflix. I am petsitting guinea pigs for my next door neighbor over the holidays and when I go over there to care for them, I put on the TV. I’m not missing much, I can tell you that. Although, Lewis Black’s pre-christmas special about Xmas vs Channukah was pretty funny.
Every time a talk show dies, God pets a kitty cat. And gives a baby bunny a great big carrot.
