So with Charlie Sheen charged with raising a knife against his third wife Brooke Mueller on Christmas Eve in front of their twin sons, I’m feeling a little sheepish for cutting him so much slack during his divorce from Denise Richards last year.
Specifically, I’m remembering writing this with some chagrin:
I have to say, [therapy] is the best parenting decision Denise has made in years, although I guarantee she’s revealing this only to make it look like Charlie Sheen is the bad guy.
Between witnessing their mom’s unbridled hatred of their dad (who, trust me, definitely returns the sentiment) and the time bomb of a reality show that she forced them to go on, her two daughters — Lola and Sam, ages 3 and 4 — are going to need a lot of professional help to resist their inevitable Britney Spearsification.
Charlie Sheen really is a bad guy, though. It’s not the first time he’s attempted to kill a woman, but it does appear to be the first time he’s done so in front of his kids. So all his protests that Denise Richards was not acting in the best interests of their daughters ring more than a bit hollow now.
Mea culpa for falling for it.

Don’t worry too much about misjudging this guy. He’s an actor, that’s what they do- ACT. Some of them do it a lot better than others. I’m sure Charlie Sheen’s fooled a lot of people into thinking he’s not a psycho, people who were much closer to him for a long time too. He’s finally showed himself out for the whole world to see that now.

Meh, the fact that he’s a dangerous jerk doesn’t make Denise any better of a parent. Good lord, those poor kids: one parent is a former ‘glamour model’ and ‘actress’ eagerly pimping them out to a reality show for $$$ and fame, and the other is a drug-and-prostitute addicted psycho who abuses the mother of his children. No wonder those girls always look so miserable.

This just proves once again that abusers don’t change…except, for the worst. He fooled a lot of people, though, and it was easy for him to do, too, because most of us really would like to believe that it’s possible for (an excuse for) a person like Charlie Sheen to change. But the sad truth is, people like that don’t change and they don’t stop until they finally kill someone or until they get too old to raise their fists…and/or knives.
I just have one question: Was he wearing Michael Jordan’s boxers when he did this? Because that would…well, actually, it would somehow make it even narstier.

I think what it was Charlie Sheen was the better of the two at the time (which says a lot considering Sheen and Richards) and that’s what you wrote about.
Sheen and Richards are both hot messes! Sheen has always been a jerk and keeps getting chance after chance after chance (OJ anyone?). Ah, celebrity.

At the risk of being flamed to a crackly crunch, I’m not convinced yet about the knife incident since the story ONLY comes from a person who had a .14 BAC when the alleged event occurred.
I know what you’re saying, Discordia. My thinking, though, is as follows: It’s not out of character for Charlie Sheen. Really. At this point, it would be out of character if he DIDN’T act like a psycho.
