Cindy Crawford Needs to Put a Stop to This

gaia_crawford_makeup.jpgCindy Crawford is, like, the coolest supermodel ever.

She is crazy smart and has a family that doesn’t seem like it’s under the constant threat of collapse, and she’s always been up-front about the illusion of the modeling industry — all of which makes her pretty impossible to hate.

As she famously once said:

I think women see me on the cover of magazines and think that I never have a pimple or bags under my eyes. You have to realize that’s after two hours of hair and makeup, plus retouching. Even I don’t wake up looking like Cindy Crawford.

Down to earth, right?

So WTH is her six-year-old daughter Kaia doing running around with the aforementioned two hours of hair and makeup? The family was snapped leaving Nobu in L.A., and Kaia is clearly wearing at least eye makeup and lip gloss.

Too young for that! Must wait until first grade!

Posh Is Officially Out of Work

posh_quits.jpgRemember how Victoria Beckham quit the Spice Girls because she wanted to be a fashion designer? If not, it’s your lucky day because I have a memory like an elephant. In February:

“I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. I’m not in the music industry any more. I’m in the fashion industry.

“I’m putting together a team of people now so it will be my main project when I finish this tour in a month.”

Turns out, much like ombre maxi dresses (oh they may be hot right now, but trust me on this one), Posh’s dVb line of jeans was a passing fad.

The denim has been pulled from Los Angeles stores Kitson and Fred Segal after she refused to make any public appearances to promote the line:

“We asked her PR people so many times for her to appear but she didn’t,” said Kitson owner, Fraser Ross. “Celebrity lines are no different from an album or music tour. They have to be promoted to sell.”

Maybe the jeans came only in Posh’s size 00. Might have been a contributing factor to poor sales?

George Clooney Gets Touchy When You Point Out He Shills Overseas

george_clooney_omega_watch.jpgGeorge Clooney gets all huffy when you mention that he makes extra bank shilling for companies in foreign countries. Stars do it all the time (remember Lost in Translation?) because the Japanese and Europeans will pay them tons to sell out and it doesn’t damage their credibility with their American fanbase.

So lately he’s been complaining about a pair of Italian designers who fraudulently used his name and likeness to promote their fashion line:

“If someone tries to sell you clothes or watches that are based on me, don’t buy them,” Clooney, 46, told reporters Wednesday in Rome, where he was promoting his new film, “Leatherheads.”

I’ll bet that Omega, the Swiss watch company, is thrilled about his statement. He’s been shilling for them for the past year, even being named Omega Ambassador and getting richly compensated in return. I mean, he’ll sell clothes and watches, just be prepared to pay him for the honor. But shhh, don’t remind him about that, he doesn’t like it when you expose that kind of stuff.

Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda Are BFF 4EVA

satc.jpgIt’s long been rumored that the divas on Sex and the City simply can’t stand each other, but they persist in denying there is anything between the four actresses but affection:

“It’s almost like going back to high school, yet not,” Kristin [Davis, who plays Charlotte York] tells LOGO’s NewNowNext.“There’s a sense of familiarity between us, and we are in many ways like sisters.

“We finish each others’ sentences and we were never separated from each other.”

High school might be a clue to the truth, however. Like a cafeteria squabble between catty teenagers, at a dinner to celebrate the Point Foundation’s annual awards on Monday, Sarah Jessica Parker pulled a stunt and refused to sit with her castmates, preferring instead to dine with Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes.

But with the movie coming out next month, they were all kissy and squealing when the cameras were around on the red carpet. Honestly, I’d rather see a knockdown, dragout fight with couture tore up and see someone stab a bitch in the back with a Manolo Blahnik.

Joan Rivers Thinks Posh Is ‘Arrogant’

joan_rivers.jpgJoan Rivers, who is probably being kept alive by the grindings of fetuses these days, told Access Hollywood that Victoria Beckham is full of herself:

“I dislike Victoria Beckham.

“I dislike the entitlement, the blunt total entitlement. You want to say: ‘Calm down, you were a Spice Girl.’

“The arrogance when she walks into a room is astonishing.”

Really, this coming from Joan Rivers? The woman who invented red-carpet cattiness?

Not that it matters anymore since she was fired from hosting event shows after a few embarrassing mistakes, such as insulting Kevin Costner’s wife’s engagement ring and then calling the actor “insecure.”

The plastic-surgery devotée can now be found blogging red carpets from home and nursing grudges of culturally relevant celebrities.

Courtney Love: Nevermind What I Said

cobain_shoe.jpgEverybody knows Courtney Love has no shame, but what we didn’t know is that she also has no soul.

The widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain has inked a deal with Converse to make a line of the canvas sneakers emblazoned with his song lyrics and signature.

No word yet on when the footwear company will release a version of the kicks with his suicide note printed on the side.

Of course, rock historians will remember when Love sued the other members of Nirvana for trying to release a boxed set of the band’s greatest hits, claiming they were just after some fast cash:

Courtney Love, herself a musician and actor, is locked in an increasingly bitter struggle with Nirvana’s bassist, Krist Novoselic, and the drummer, Dave Grohl, for control of the band’s legacy.

The two men, who previously remained silent, have launched a vitriolic attack on Love, calling her an “irrational, self-centered and unpredictable” prima donna who is “appropriating” Cobain’s work to further her own career.

Love dismisses them as “sidemen” who contributed little to Nirvana’s success, and her lawyer claims they are looking for “quick bucks.”

When Cobain killed himself because, as he said, “I don’t have the passion anymore,” this is definitely where he saw himself in 14 years.

Paris Hilton Sees Herself as a Role Model

paris_baby1.jpgParis Hilton is in Turkey to judge a beauty pageant. Unremarkably, she shows a complete lack of self-awareness:

“I don’t pay attention to lies because I am a good person, I work very hard and I’ve built this empire on my own. I think this is an inspiration for a lot of girls out there.”

Asked if she was happy to be seen as a role model by girls, Hilton said: “Yes.”

Which empire is that again? Does she mean the hotel chain her grandfather built from the ground up, the money from which is the sole reason we’ve all been subjected to her?

No really, I’m mystified about the Paris Brand and what she thinks she stands for. She’s the poster child for why you shouldn’t let your boyfriend videotape you in bed, broadcast catty feuds with her lame friends, and put your name on incredibly cheap-looking shoes.

Paulina Porizkova Is a Poor Man’s Janice Dickinson

paulina_porizkova.jpgTop Model judge Paulina Porizkova has long been a critic of America’s Next Top Model:

“[Top Model is] completely unrealistic. They obviously don’t take girls based on who can actually be a model,” Porizkova told The New York Post last year. “I look at the girls and think, ‘How are you gonna make a model out of that?’”

But then when the show started cutting her checks for her judging abilities, she started claiming that it was the institution of modeling that she was critiquing:

“For somebody who’s been as dismissive of modeling as I have been, it is complete insanity. Talk about contradicting myself. I’m perfectly aware of it,” she notes. But, she adds, “I was like, hey, that’s life!”

And then in her first appearance on the show, she was dismissive of the models themselves.

Honey, I know from bitch and this is all just an act. You will never touch the queen of ANTM bitchery.

Katherine Heigl: People for the Excellent Tailoring of Animals

katherine_heigl_peta.jpgKatherine Heigl has been running around Hollywood in a snug PETA tee lately, delighting the animal-rights fringe and fans of tight clothing everywhere.

But hold that thought.

Last month she made an appearance at the third annual Pedigree Adoption Drive in New York’s Times Square while wearing a fur-lined coat.

And even if it’s faux fur, as previously reported faux is often anything but.

That’s a brilliant move, wearing a coat that may very well be made from dog fur to a puppy adoption day. Well played!

Eva Mendes Is ‘Full Figured’?

eva_mendes_ck.jpgFresh-outta-rehab Eva Mendes is set to appear as the new, er, “face” of Calvin Klein Underwear.

The fashion house tapped her earlier this year for its upcoming fragrance campaign, and says she was selected to represent its new Seductive Comfort line of lingerie for “fuller figure” women:

“She really embodies the essence of the Calvin Klein brand and we look forward to seeing that carried through in the creative,” said [Tom] Murry [Calvin Klein's CEO]. “We are trying to get across that these new products are for fuller busted, shaplier kinds of women and when we looked at the talent, Eva was right.”

But in what universe is Eva Mendes fat? Or maybe I’m just failing to keep up with all the body euphemisms these days. Like how sometimes curvy means big boobs, and sometimes it describes stomach rolls. Someone, please, tell me when I’m supposed to feel bad about myself.
